Found these this morning on craigslist and for the price im thinking about picking them up. Has anyone ever seen these on a legacy? Also do any of you happen to know the offset and if they will fit my car for sure (98 BD)? Thanks for the help.

Well I called him and they are currently pending a deal so not sure if im going to be able to pick them up : ( I think im gonna offer him 175 or 200 to hold onto them for me until later this afternoon. Found these >>> http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/2743184298.html but not really wanting to spend the 300. post is kinda old too.

Chuck I look forward to hearing from you...

Ok convinced the guy to hold on to them until later tonight if I gave him 180. So I still think im making out alright still. Also found a guy in Sacramento that has projector fogs for 90, projector headlights for 160, grille for 30, and power folding mirrors for 60 all jdm. So probably will be picking those up as well just waiting on a call back now. Looks like my BD will be getting the royal treatment in the next few weeks : )

Not sure those are that rim. These have much more skinny looking spokes.

Looking forward tO seeing all these parts mounted!

Those will definitely fit your BD. 17x7 ET 55.

BTW, while those LOOK like JDM wheels, they are not strictly JDM. In the USA, Subaru began selling that wheel as a optional accessory for vehicle. They were sold in large dealerships or as an SPT order item from 2003 onward. I used to have a set, which I sold, with tires to markus here on SL-i.

If you get a chance to pick them up at that price, do it. They are very strong cast wheels - and that price is well below market IMHO.

I am happy to report that I just got home and the wheels are in my possession. To be honest until I saw them I was with httrdd, I was doubting what you guys said as i thought they were much skinnier. The pictures were obviously deceiving because those are the exact rims. Also glad to hear they are not strictly JDM because they are missing two center caps. All together 190, 170 rims + 20 for the 110 mile drive to the guys house haha. He lives on a dirt road so they are filthy but cleaned one off and they look great. No pics today but I will get some tomorrow. In other news the projector headlights and the power folding mirrors will be in the mail tomorrow  he says call back in two weeks when he gets another shipment for the other stuff. Hoping to get fogs, front bumper, tails, and grill. I will update with pics tomorrow...sorry I talk too much

To be honest if there is a place here in Colorado then I do not know about it. allstatelist.com is your friend when searching for parts that are hard to find and can still fit in a box. Like I said I would love to pick up the JDM bumper and skirts but im worried about the shipping cost on that one : / Just search the obvious places where cars and automotive stuff is a huge hobby (mainly the warm states california, florida, arizona, etc.)

So while I was waiting for the oil to drain I decided it was a good time to test fit the new wheels. They look really good even with just a quick wipe down. The car is definitely in need of some suspension with these because I feel like a monster truck with the stock setup. Since these will not go on until summer im hoping to save for a set of BC's or I might settle on raceland's. But here they are on the car let me know what you think.

Yea just call me "Gravedigger GT" until I get the coils  . I have read a few things about the racelands and I do understand you get what you pay for but are there people out there that are satisfied as a DD. I just hate to spend a ton of money on the coils when some of that could go towards the brake upgrade, sway bars, bushings, etc. I feel like I should worry more about a really nice set when Im seriously considering a swap and HP goes up. what y'all think??

Huffer

Pssh... H&R springs and KYB GR2s. Then spend the money on the swap.

Mo powa = mo betta! That looks hellaciously awesome though even with the wheel gap. Makes me wish I would have driven up there and bought them.

RandyMarsh303

Ok that seems to be a pretty common setup so im willing to do that over the questionable quality of the racelands. What spring series are most people running from H&R? sport? super sport? race?

Huffer: What suspension setup were you running when you had these on and did you have any trouble with rubbing? These look really close to the struts

Huffer
01-16-2012, 01:29 PM
I ran factory suspension - no issues. You can lower to around 1.5" without any problems. They are 17x7 ET55.
Ideally, you should run a spring with a high spring rate. If it's too soft, you'll rub on the rear tires.

I also ran the same size wheels on my current lowered suspension of GR2 struts and King Springs. No issues.

Looks good. IMO, dont settle for springs and get the BC's. Its not a whole lot more to spend if you were to buy the spring / strut combo new. Plus you get so much more adjustiblity.

Ive had two sets of springs, two sets of coils, and wish I would have just done it right the first time and saved myself some money in the long run.

Nice score on the wheels!

This philosophy is the exact reason I am asking your peoples opinions. I learned a long time ago that in most cases saving up more cash to get the better product is usually worth it. This also tends to extend repairs when things break "well its broken so I might as well upgrade it..." The BC's are about a 1000 for the BR series I have also thought about a Tein setup mainly because of the electronic dampening control this setup usually runs a little higher like 12-13k. That has got to be the most awesome thing for tuning ever.

Hey Tim,

Sorry for not getting back to you since our last email.. I am still working on it.. basically thorough information about different aspects of what you are asking me. I did not forget, i am just super busy..

Anyways.

Expect $1300 for the BC's... Don't bother with EDFC from TEIN. The unit is over priced, can only be serviced by TEIN and in the end its just a stepper motor(s) + micro-controller. You can build an EDFC system for $100 but this requires calibrating the motors which is the hard part.

The concept behind EDFC is not ment for daily applications.. it can be used for daily but the point of "tuning" your dampening is thrown out the window.. Public roads change on a daily basis.. roads shift/crack/warp/road work..

Save the cash buy the non-EDFC units and spend the rest on bushings/sway bars/etc.. you will be happier in the end.

Anyways .. blah blah blah.

The electronic damp control is basically just for some cool factor and is overpriced in my opinion. Takes me a minute to turn the knobs on my Bc's to adjust the dampening when I want to.

My situation is all for an impreza but should be about the same for a legacy. I bought Gr2 struts and tanabe springs for around $700 brand new iirc. Springs werent low enough or stiff enough for me so I bought h&r's for $250ish iirc. Eventually traded that setup + $300 for some used cusco coilovers that had 10k/ 12k spring rates which was way too much for me and the height adjustment was seized. I sold those for $500 and bought very slightly used (look brand new) BC's for $800.

So moral of my story is over 6 years I have had 4 different setups spent (700 + 250 + 300 - 500 + 800) = $1550 Not to mention several alignments. I could have easily had coils the whole time and been able to easily adjust ride height and dampening.

Also depends entirely on what you want out of a car. Most people who want a comfortable daily ride for a variety of terrains and seasons and environments. I would never recommend running even a cheap set of coilovers in a salted snow belt.

And what people recommend is based on their personal experience. So take that advice with a grain of salt.

I went from stock suspension to a known name-brand (in the southern hemisphere) spring and global shock maker. Haven't looked back. The ride is comfortable but firm, and I have the knowledge that because these parts are made in an ISO-certified mass production facility, that there is much less likelihood of catastrophic failure. I did spend nearly 2 years weighing the options though.

Good luck! :)

Well thank you all for your opinions and insight on the situation it is helping a lot. I probably will end up going with the bc's or something similar (maybe KW/ST/Cusco) They all have similar lines at similar prices so I will just have to keep my eyes and ears peeled for any opinions that pop up oh and deals of course . Also if I find a deal on 4/2 pots then I might do those first. Does anyone have an idea of how much the whole 4/2 setup would cost from the dealer?
