Am I the only one who has rear strut problems, does anyone else's legacy sag a little bit in the back? I had to replace the rear struts in my old 1990 legacy and not i have to replace my 1997 legacy struts. Is this a common problem among subarus or did i just get lucky?

actually, I thought mine were sagging...it just looks like it, it's actually the rear fender lip being lower than the front one.

how many miles on them? I am nearing 140K on my 95 and I think I am about due for some replacements. they are clunking a bit so I think my strut mounts are shot as well

177k on these suckers...they're still good, no clunking or excessive jittering/bouncing.

yeah, I would imagine the life span on struts isnt expected much over 100k..
Mine were fine when I got the car about 20k ago, but I do my fair share of dirtroad driving including some pretty mean bumps at high speeds. lol
I plan on upgrading to an air system, or possible some STi struts and springs

I think struts/shocks are one of the most overlooked componets on a vehicle. Many vehicles are on the road with worn out struts, and the owner's don't realize. (I know mine are toast, just haven't had time yet) Many people would likely notice a big improvement in ride/handling if they replaced them.
Remember the commercial one of the shock places had on TV with the tire bouncing down a slightly rough roadway? (Like dribbling a basketball) I've seen that out on the roads.

I always wondered what that clunking noise was. Makes sense now!

my rears were shot when i replaced them after 109k miles. i compressed them by hand and they didn't pop back out.

YES!
How much would it cost to get these replaced?

Struts are like 40-50 each. Plus labor? Well....
I sag in the back. Well, hell, I'm riding on springs.
