Well, i decided that I wanted actual HID projectors for my 97 2.5GT sedan instead of the JDM halogen projectors. So I had a set of messed up oem one piece lights laying around. I bought a cheaper set of morimoto minis with minor imperfections to do a retrofit. I work at a vacuum forming shop and I thought id be able to make a new acrylic lens, but that's impossible because of the shape of the light. So after much thinking I ended up cutting out a circle in front of the mh1 projector and made a lens of .028in clear acrylic. You can see in the finished pic how big the acrylic piece is on the inside the lens. The headlights will have dc or monster logo blinkers. The rest of the headlight including inside will be black. Or I might sticker bomb my headlights instead. The led ring will go on once I highbeam. highbeam, and ring will be on seperate switches in the car. Highbeam and led ring switch will be side by side so i can turn them on with one finger. I still need to do aiming, and to start on the 2nd headlight.

A lot more pics will be posted once i start on the other headlight. I might even sell my jdm headlights and buy clear glass or clear plastic 2 piece oem headlights. Main thing is not to have any flutes in the lens interfering with the HID cutoff and output.

I'll be removing the led rings because I don't think they fill the contour of the new lens very well. I will most likely be putting the shrouds over the projectors with white leds inside for a neat effect. I will start taking them apart again and start making them look real good. I am waiting on a harness also to test them. They will be sealed using 3m window weld after I heat up and scrape off all the heat activated sealant. I've been thinking of what color to paint the old plastic lenses so you can't see the sealant for the new round lens. Plastidip is one option or just flat black, but sticker bombing would be cool other then that it might be illegal. Blinkers will be Amber dc or some logo or arrow. Any suggestions are really appreciated.

I'm still waiting on the harness for them. Then after that i need to see if alignment is proper. Once its all aligned I need to take them apart and clean and paint everything.

I think you would be better to do the halo ring with the low beams. With the highbeams on you should be putting out so much light that it wouldn't be noticeable.
re: the circular cutout - wouldn't it have been a better idea to cut out more of a rectangular shape, then you get rid of more of the flutes as possible, and open up the door for a double projector install for dedicated lows and highs?

any chance you could make a few extra lenses for a cost?

this is very interesting...I was thinking of something like this. How difficult is it to remove the lenses from the housings? I usually just heat them in the over at about 180 and peel them apart when opening the lights on other cars.
