2.5 DOHC plug wires?

Hey guys, I noticed one of my wires is getting a bit corroded... I'm not so much up on performance aftermarket when it comes to wires for Subaru.

Option one, new OEM wires...
Option two, performance wires that would cost about the same as OEM? The motor is stock, so I'm not looking for crazy spedy wires...

Any input would be nice... :smt023

NGK FX50 for 40 bucks! I had them for over a year and never had any problems. I trust ngk products. Found them on the website above for 40 shipped.

^^ NGK is essentially OEM...NGK sparkplugs etc.

Performance wires - anything with an 8mm or thicker jacketed wire... Magnecore is the only brand that comes to mind but they're spendy.

Not really worth it - good, new wires should make plenty difference.

Magnecor subaru legacy wires are like 100 +, I guess if you have the cash for it why not.

Okay I know where they are I just have to dig them out this weekend. I bought them when I had a 2.2 and they were for the ej25d style coil pack and never got used. They were real heavy guage and I think they were magnecor but not 100% sure. Ill let you know

The DOHC 2.5 is the ej25d. There are two different kinds of coil, and Im sure that the wires I have are for the DOHC 2.5. Im not 100% sure on what years and engines got which coil design. I have two cars with the DOHC 2.5 now, I just never got around to using the wires. Ill post some pics and give you more info when I can.

HAHAHA!!! Guys, I have major dyslexia so can figure most stuff out and it also explains why my spelling can be horrid at times. Chat and forums have actually helped my spelling, but not so much grammar... I really dont like reading that much because I have to read things 4 times to comprehend or remember it.

I'm totally interested, I know I need some. It's gonna be a while before I get around to doing a swap and I might even have a GT-B before then.

Huffer, the only reason I was trying to clarify with the motor code is I get them mixed up all the time. I know they have a few different one's for single, dual, turbo.... bla bla bla... Sometimes I wish Subaru was like Nissan. I know them well.

The first engines I learned were early Volvo.
B-16 1.6
B-18 1.8
B-20A, B-20-B, B-20-f, and then B-20-E... All the same base motor, 2.0, but A and B had different carbs and E and F are different years.

Nissan and Toyota where the next I learned.
Toyota 20R, 22R, 22RE, 5m, 7m, ... Nissan CA18DET, SR20DET, RB25DET, RB26DETT, KA24DE... I could go on...

What I know with Subaru...
EJ18
EJ22
EJ25 DOHC and SOHC

When everyone starts tossing in the EJ255 bla bla bla (if I even have that right) I start getting lost. It's hard to tell what motor is for what when every flipping Subaru has the same motor but only slightly different.

Case in point:
Nissan
-240sx/S13 89-90 USDM KA24E SOHC
-240sx/S13 91-98 USDM KA24DE DOHC
-early S13 JDM CA18DE (N/A) or CA18DET (Turbo) 1.8 twin can
-late S13 JDM SR20DE (N/A) or SR20DET (turbo) 2.0 twin cam
and if you want to get into Skylines, you have RB20DET, RB25DET, RB26DETT, and then the Aussie RB30DE used for hybrid motors.

What I'm saying is to me, I have yet to figure a rym or reason to how Subaru does there codes. I have been wanting to start a thread for Subaru motor codes and what the motors came out of, but at the same times I have the feeling it's going to fall of deaf ears. I find it easier to refer to cars models and years. I would love to figure out all the codes, but I have motor codes for almost a dozen auto makers in my head (Chevy, Toyota, Volvo, Nissan, Honda, Ford....). I know that the EJ25 in my BH is a Phase II and my BD has a Phase I, but dont know what comes after the EJ25??? See what I mean? Or even what the hell an Impreza 2.5 RS has for a motor because it's not the same as a Legacy, or at least what the interchanges say.

Their wires are 8.5mm thick. And they have several different models depending on the shape of the ignition coil towers. Oval = hydraulic lifters, Teardrop = solid lifters.

I got the NGK wires also they are quality. I have them on my 95 miata too.

+1 for NGK blues

Just make sure you get either FX50 or FX54, depending on what coil you have. Its easy to tell if you look under the hood, and the look at the pics of both sets on amazon.
