I found a junkyard that has the doors and fender I need to replace on my Legacy. That's right people, after driving around over a year with a beat up looking Legacy the body work is about to start. ooberdoob and myself went to a JY that had 6 BD's. He found a few parts for projects and I found both passenger doors and pass fender and drivers door. We are going back Saturday to pull some shit. Has anyone removed a door completely yet? I'm wondering if it will be a pain with all the wiring.

when you pull the rubber boot away there should be a plug behind it and the whole wireing harness should disconnect there, then its a door pin and like 4 bolts.. Easy as Pie

one of those BDs doesnt have a black dash in it by any chance does it?

Wire harness score! I was hoping it would be a quick disconnect. I doubt they have a black dash. The outback may, I'll look Saturday when we go back.

thanks, yea my dash is a brownish ugly color. drives me nuts. I pulled the gray one from my parts car, but would really like to put a black one in if I could fine one

4 bolts for the hinges ^^

Pop the rubber plug out ^^

Unplug the harness ^^

then there is the door pin inside the door. which you should actually take out first..

my fender was off already which gives you really easy access to the plug, but if you disconnect the door pin and the hinges first and have someone to hold the door for you while you pull the rubber boot and disconnect it it is no more than a 5 min job to remove

Great pics! what are the size of the bolts? I have to do this in one shot. I don't have any room to hold parts anymore. So I have to get the fender prep it and install it saturday and toss the old one.

Hmm.. I believe the fender was 10mm or 12mm and the door is either 12mm or 14mm

I can let you know for sure later today

ok I went ahead and check the door and they are 12mm bolts holding it on, and the fender I am almost positve was all 10mm. maybe 1 or 2 12mm hidden there somewhere. I cant remember for sure.

congrats on a nice find! Ohio sucks, it's almost impossible to find a decent used Sube let alone a couple decent ones in a junkyard. :(

Just use vinal dye on your dash, make it nice and black quickly. :) Just be sure to do it outside, that stuff turns into dust in the air and settles everywhere...

I thought about it, I just dont want to have it flaking off my dash down the road, I might try it on my current dash and if I dont like the outcome I will throw the gray one in.

I just never found anything that likes to stick to vinyl yet. they say its vinyl dye but it seems more like paint to me. lol
