99 Outback Limited Swap Q??

Hi, there's a 99 Outback Limited with Blown Head Gaskets listing on Craigslist near me and i was wandering if i where to come up with the money to buy it and get it towed.
Can you put a EJ22 in the 99, I remember seeing before that something with the 99's ware they are Phase 2 does that mean there 2.5 SOHC VS the 96-98 Outbacks with the DOHC 2.5 or am i just a noob haha! or is it better just to rebuild the 2.5 that's in it :lol:

Yes it will swap. You will need a gen 2 ecu from a EJ22 and single port headers.. Try to find a 95/96 EJ22 since its non-interference


You can rebuild the EJ25D that has a bad head gasket but if the motor overheated for long periods of time then most likely the motor is warped. This type of task is really meant to be sent to a machine shop.
