96-99 wagon rear door panels

Do the 96-99 wagon rear door panels have speaker grill? Reason im asking cause I wanna put another pair of speaker and since the sedan and wagon have the same door, they should have the same door panel. It would be a great place to put on a 6.5 subs. Instead of modifying my sedan door panels it would be much cleaner to just slap the wagon version (if it comes with rear door speakers)

The interior door panels are the same, but I think the exterior panels are slightly different.

Why GT? Outback will be the same. Just different colors. I assume its for you BD right?

Yes its for my BD GT, I want it to match the other door panels

OB and GT are the same with wagons. The only difference would be the shade of gray. If I remember right, all OB from 98-99 are dark gray like GT's from 97ish-99. That should make your parts window a bit larger.

I actually went to my wholesale guy at Subaru the other day and I might be getting a bran new one for the driver door since I cant find a nice one in the yards and I'm so flipping picky. My cost is like $110 for the main panel. Not too bad really.

thanks for the info! I have the leather door cards and would like it to match my front ones. If anything i'll just grab the speaker grill insert

The door cards are easy enough to switch. Or just get two rear wagon door panels and dremel out the hole in your door panel and mount the speaker grill from the new door panel. Once you see it you will see how easy it is to do. The harder part is getting the wire into the door, no speakers now means no speaker wire hiding in the door. it probably involves pulling your doors off to get the wire into the flexible rubber thing and pulling apart a great deal of your interior to get the wires up to the center or back to an amp.

It's not as hard as you would think. You shouldnt have to take the door off, just maybe pull the harness. The harder part is routing the wires. just off the top of my head, your most likely gonna need to just the front seats, carpet, B-pillar trim, maybe the seat belt, and maybe the center console depending how your want to rout the wires.

Myself, I route all my stereo wires under the console, like RCA's, power and Remote wires for my sub. That way your only going under about 6-8 in of carpet and your not messing with anything under the dash or pulling rocker covers.. But thats me... :smile:

You know what, I just looked at some sedan door panels and wagon ones side by side. All you need is the speaker grills. The cut outs are outlined on the inside of the panel. The door shells are already setup for speakers to be mounted.

Just trim your stock ones and your set! I think I might do the same thing to mine....

Cool, thats what it looks like when I compared pics on ebay (just the grill). It would make a nice decent beat set up. 2 pairs of 6.5 component speakers and a 6.5 subs. I don't want an enclosure at the trunk because I need it for the stroller and/or groceries. Time to hit up pick n pull :smt026

Like I said, after seeing the cars almost side by side in the yard, I had the same thought! That would be one rockin system!
