Since my wheels will be here tomorrow I am wondering what everyone does to care for and clean there wheels? This will be my first set of alloys! A friend recommended I wax them before installing. Over on Nabisco I have been reading good things about Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner. Any input would be great. Thanks.

Your friend is right. Also, clean your rotors where the wheel makes contact, so they won't lock onto them later. Wax them first, and they will be easier to clean.

Definitely PM Rob (BlackBeauty???) here on the board. He carries Sonax products.

How would I go about cleaning the rotors? Would spraying that section with brake clean do the job?

Brake cleaner removes grease and residue from the brake rotor. Do that first. Then, when it's dry, you can apply a little wax on the top hat of the rotor where it contacts the wheel. I just use a few smears of brake caliper grease because it's no big deal. Just don't get anything on the braking part of the rotor.

I moved this topic to the Body/Cosmetics forum.

A word of advice - if you're considering the ArmorAll wheel protectant, skip it. It's expensive, it doesn't work very well, and it barely covers 2 sets of wheels before the canister is empty.

Thanks. I've read that just about every where. I did wax the wheels last night and hope to get the on the car tomorrow night or Saturday morning.
