I already have a obd1 jdm engine in my car now getting ready to put a obd2 jdm engine in my car. Its a 93 ss. what do I need to make the wiring work? can I use my same ECU then get it chipped or tuned? Need some answers if anyone has them

Do you have the V1 ECU? Or are you running the SS ECU? Just get the matching ECU for you engine and use that.

from what I read In Jdm-land the first cars that had obd-ii like electricals were bugeyes (so, ej207). That's why back in 02-04 the US wrx guys were swapping the '207 motors and ecu's while keeping their stock wiring. I think with your ver 3. (ej20k?) you'll need to do a wiring merge, or use the ej22t harness and have robtune do an ecu for you.

I have been running the ej22 ecu. how do I go about finding this "robtune" and this is what I found for OBD stuff. EJ20K is still obd1, even V5/6 EJ207 is still obd1.V7 EJ207 is the start of obd2

That makes sense about the ver 5 & 6's, since the last sti gc8's had the ej207 motors.
I see you already posted in rob's thread. Basically you'll need an ej20g ecu (any ones listed on the first page- so no legacy ej20g or ej20k style ej20g such as forester). He might have one available. He puts a chip into the ecu's expansion socket, tuned to your specifications. Your setup will need his 4 to 2 adaptor since you'll have wasted spark on the new motor, unless you already made an adaptor. And finally, you'll need a maf sensor from an n/a 2nd gen with part number ending in 160 or 160f (some 1st gens had the right type too).

Wholly crap thats alot of stuff. I was thinking this was going to be cheaper than a standalone. but it seems they might be pushing the same dollar figure. Anything else you can help me out with? Is there going to be any plug relocating or re-pinning, intercooler fitment issues, any info helps.
......And this 4-2 adapter you speak of? I bought a modded dodge coil off legacycentral a year ago, should I run this or keep the jdm coil?

nope, with the new maf, ej20g ecu and 4 to 2 adaptor it should be plug and play. Tmic will work too since you have the correct intake manifold.
except for a couple of things... Lol. You'll need to reuse your engine wiring harness and figure out how to attach the intake pipe to the airbox (unless you have a cold air intake then no worries). Kimokalihi used a stock air filter box from an usdm wrx iirc. You'll also reuse your throttle body, tps and iac as well.
Come to think of it, i'd recommend just pm'ing kimokalihi since he should have this all fresh in memory in case I forgot something.

The swap isn't coming with a TMIC so i need to find one. If you have any leads on these parts please let me know. I am still learning Subaru so any help would be awesome
And since you said correct manifold, are you implying that I have to use the Version 1?

in that case I recommend the 06-07 wrx tmic since it has the best fitment in our cars.

I need to find a MAF and by iac you mean idle aircontrol valve? My throttle body will mount to the ver3 mani? Also I noticed the intake on the ver 3 is in a different spot. its way bigger in diameter than what i have now.
