Well...I like the idea of the new WRX, not that concept pic.
-I like the idea of a 2 door hatch and the slimming down the engine. They need to get back into the WRC.
-I know we all love our EJ engine but times are changing...the FA and the FB look nice.
-On a side note, I heard about the splitting of the Impreza and the WRX for awhile but it is nice to see commitment on it.

I am very happy to see the Exiga listed (Subaru Mini Van for those that don't know - Think lower and prettier Tribeca), A new forester which I have heard nothing on yet and a new Legacy (I don't like the 5th gen).

So once again Subaru is giving North America years after what it already had in Japan. Exiga has been around for awhile (hell, they've already done a limited run of a special Exiga STI)

And the STI split from the rest of the Impreza line (The WRX became the GT) around the same time...

Bringing the Exiga here is a great idea. But only if it has something that separates it from the pack.

Being a newish Dad, I have been eyeing up the Fozzie as a replacement, but we really want a Mazda5 because it's smaller than the Odyssey/Sienna, handles great and still has the dual sliding doors. The SUV's (including the Forester) could really learn from the sliding door design - it just makes loading passengers and gear SO much easier.

Yeah, but Huffer, sliding doors mean minivan and that automatically means nobody will want it because it's not "really" an SUV anymore.

That being said, I love the design of the Mazda 5.

I love that they did an Exiga STI. Too bad that'll never see the light of day here in the states (from factory at least).

I was really hoping they'd get rid of this stupid 5th gen Legacy in 2013. I mean, they have been on a 5 year cycle (in Japan) since the inception of the Legacy, and it's been about a 4 year cycle in the states. Both mean a new Legacy in 2013. Why they are prolonging the 5th generation two more years than usual is beyond me, but I can't possibly believe it's because it's their most popular body style ever. That title hands down belongs to the 4th gen IMO.

uh, the Legacy has been on a 5 year cycle here as well. We're just a yearish behind them.

And I see a lot of new Legacy/Outback models around. They're popular because they're bigger & get better mileage. Subaru owners never really cared about appearances, aside from us enthusiasts.

Sliding doors don't automatically mean minivan. But they are so much more practical than swing doors. I bet they'd be super easy to have done on a wagon. Especially a BG/BK with the no frame windows.

Huffer, I agree with you, I'm just talking about the American stigma with minivans & station wagons.

Subaru would be shooting themselves in the foot if they ever did that to the Forester.

ok.. im new to subarus but i been doin my research... the pic of the new WRX is pretty fuckin sick.. ive always been a fan of the subaru impreza wrx sti.. this looks like theyre taking the sporty-ness of that car over to what will be just WRX, leaving an open slot to fill with a new model of Imprezas.. so basically instead of calling theyre new cars whole new names, Subaru is just trying to "RE-make" theyre most expensive car to get more money and add a second edition of that car.. itll probably be an opposite of the WRX and will be a nice luxury type of Subaru.. just a possibility.. but none the less the WRX will be the sport car of subaru while the Impreza will become just another Subaru.. hopefully they can remake it into a sedan and wagon but revise the wagon look a bit? make it more sleek and not so "Soccer Mom Station Wagon" type of look.

1. That image of the WRX is an artist impression. Not a concept or even an official Subaru press image.
2. Subaru already did the remake a few years back, with offer a "basic" version of the WRX called the WRX-TR. The Legacy GT and Spec-B models are supposed to be the luxury versions of the WRX.
3. Hot hatches are coming back, no fear!

Subaru has managed to have success with things that other car companies fail at, like the CVT, the boxer engine, and the station wagon...

I'm honestly more interested in the variable vane turbos that Acura uses on it's RDX. No-one's really explored those as a power adder.

It's pretty common on turbo diesels from what I understand
