Hi SLi Flyers, I'm Camron from Vancouver, Washington, USA.

I'm a Scirocco nut at heart, but am in love with the 2nd gen Legacy GT Wagon. The JDM GT-B Limited look drives me wild, so it is my goal to cosmetically transform our LGT.

A year and a half ago my wife says, "I think we should get a Subaru," and there just so happened to be a very nice looking black LGT Wagon sitting forlorn on the lawn of a house near our neighborhood for ages... I figured it was was headgaskets, and sure enough that's what it turned out to be. I wheeled and dealed with the owner for a few days while I had the car gone over in the local Euro/Import shop.

We eventually reached an agreement on price (he sold for less than than he wanted, and we paid more than I was hoping, lol) and I took on the project over the following winter: Pulled engine, new headgaskets, heads redone, new timing belt, oil pump, waterpump, radiator, etc. etc. Also had the cracked windshield replaced, fixed (mostly) a leaking sunroof, upgraded to WRX and H6 brakes, installed JDM Projectors and RFRB grille and gave the exterior a much-needed deep clean after having sat in that guy's yard for two years. 110,000 on original engine (now almost 120K after being back on the road for a year). One cool thing about this car is that it was always owned locally, and the first owners maintained it very well. Black LGT Wagons are like leprechauns around here, and we were extremely fortunate with how this all worked out... it's even an auto, which my wife requires, as this is HER car :)

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! BTW I'm pretty sure the LGT 2.5 EJ25D engine is going to stay pretty much stock (may spring for a quality cold air intake and stainless exhaust down the road), but I do plan on bringing the suspension down a couple cm's... definitely not slammed, but just a more fitting stance. In fact, in my fantasy land I'd have some magical coilovers that are so adjustable that they could be as soft and tall as stock for my wife to daily it and for us to take through the snow, yet could be lowered and firmed up for our spirited summer drives through the Columbia River Gorge. Haven't heard of the right set for me, but I welcome your suggestions on a great setup.

A couple more for everyone:

Hey just wondering did you go with all OEM parts with your headgasket rebuild? I see oil on top of the engine block and I think its almost time for the headgasket to be done on my legacy. Hopefully I can make it till summer before the rebuild if not just get it done at a shop.
Good seeing another Couve member on here!

@ScoobySnack - I got most everything at a local independent Euro/Japanese parts and repair shop, Bartosh on Evergreen Blvd. http://www.bartoshimportautoparts.com/ Good prices, and as a general rule no chintzy knock-off parts. Just about everything on the wagon headgasket project is OEM from Japan. Specifically, the engine gasket set was OEM Japanese (including the Fuji Heavy Industries stamped emblem), and the headgaskets are the revised improved version. I did not get parts from the dealership except for a few small dealer-only items. Some people feel that OEM means dealership parts only, but I went with quality parts from an independent shop. The parts manager Chris is a bit cantankerous but very very knowledgeable on most foreign makes. I have been a loyal customer for 15 years or so.

HTH!

lol yeah... though the EBC rotors are actually only dimpled and not drilled through. Now the car stops faster than it goes :D

Oh good. I will have to go to them when I am ready to do the headgasket. Not to excited but it may need to be done soon. I got a few qoutes from some shops and they are around $1500 to 2000. So I guess so save some bucks I better do the replacement unless I can find a better shop prices! Thanks for the reply.

Broken foglight face, but this was disclosed in the listing before I purchased the bumper. Fortunately I have a spare pair of Limited round foglights in perfect condition :)

I'll start a proper Members Rides thread that observes the MR1 rules in a couple weeks, thanks though! Hope it's okay if I put a few more updates here until then.

I'm so glad you guys here brought this seller to my attention because I'd otherwise never find one of these, and the price couldn't be beat. It's in such nice shape that it's almost a shame to paint Black Granite Pearl over the white paint job that's on there now... but I don't know if the scuffs could be repaired without painting the whole thing anyway? (Most of the scuffs are out of the way on the bottom edge, but there is one on the front upper corner.) It sounds like Matty2Hotty was trying to score this bumper too, I'll keep my eyes open for any others for him.

This was taken on the front lawn this afternoon:

And this was taken about an hour ago just a few feet away, and the white stuff is still coming down. Sticking snow! ...In Portland!! ...In late March!!!
