i just paid for a 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5i..automatic :( .. its a black sedan (gorgeous inside and out except for a couple paint blemishes on the front bumper, but thats being fixed) i paid about $4,900 for her.. its actually for my wife but i will be doing everything to it.. this is my first subaru and im doing tons of research trying to learn about them.. my question for u guys is.. what can i do to this car to just make it look slick and sexy as hell? it already looks gorgeous but i cant leave well enough alone.. MY car is a 97 acura integra gsr and i have $15,000 invested in it.. what can i do to this legacy to just make it simple and sexy.. i planned on black rims and low pro tires, its got tinted windows already, im gonna smoke out the tail lights, take all emblems off and smooth it out, put in a system, and the 2.5gt hood.. possibly a lip too.. idk. please inform me cuz as i said this is my very first subaru.

also, how many miles are too many? idk the lifespan of subarus, this one has 180,000 but has been owned by a certified mechanic and hes been on top of all maintenance for this car since hes owned it.... i test drove it and it does drive amazing but i still dont care, im gonna take it to my mechanic as soon as i get it.. i should have it by the end of this week..

any input will be appreciated as i learn this beast. :)

You can start by looking for the extra add ons that the Legacy GT limited's had like fogs, lips, ect.


Then from there... start looking at the members rides threads... one thing you could DEFINATLEY do that would be unique and sexy... Get the Blizten door sill from Yama in Japan... he is not going to be selling parts after a couple more days and these are super rare.

unfortunately i wont be buying anything for the car immediately.. when i bought my car i had knowledge about it so i knew what to get for it.. this car is completely new to me and i need to figure out what im gonna get.. i wish i could get those door sills cuz they are nice.. but as of right now, im looking for possibilities and advice.. i dont wanna ruin a good car, but i want it to demand attention when it comes around... ya feel me? lol.. kinda just gettin the shopping list together and am gonna buy pieces when i can afford it.

Damn man, thats cheap for that year of car! As for miles, my 98 GT has 240K with a motor in it that has 270K, it will last you a long time if you take care of it.

As for what to do to it, take a look in the Members rides threads. not too many 5th gen owners around, but I'm sure your will find someones car in there. Start a tread on your car over in Members Rides I and post up some pics... Welcome to the forum! :smt023

That's a great deal for that car! If it's been maintained, it should have plenty of life left in it. Likely all of that mileage is hwy miles, so they were easy miles too.

First of all welcome! Thats a hell of a deal on an 05!

For styling, go with whatever suits you. Nobody on the internet can tell you exactly what to do to your car in the looks department. For me I absolutely hate the "murdered out" on family sedans. You need a lambo or something really amazing to pull that off imho. So I would stay away from tinting the lights or getting black wheels. I would probably get the LGT hood and spoiler if yours doesnt have it, lower it on some coilovers and some nice gold or silver wheels, and call it a day.

i appreciate that input, and i agree.. i am apart of an integra forum too and they HATE what i did to my integra.. theyre all about just JDM and i put a ton of "fast and furious" type shit on that car.. but its only cuz its my show car.. not a race car or nuthin.. so thats y i decided to come to a Legacy forum so that i could get sum educated opinions. ur car is sexy, however mine isnt for me.. its for the misses and i have to let her do her thing to it.. i dont think that itll look to bad with black everything.. thats y im kinda leaning towards that.. just trying to keep it simple with the color scheme and she wants all black so thats easy. lol.. (easy is always better for my wallet XD) so as much as id like to do it for me, im doing all this black stuff for her... but heres a quick question.. whats the emblem on ur car?? ive never seen that before.. lol.. im gonna take off all the back emblems but the front one, id be happy to replace it with that one.. lol

If it's your wife's car, don't put coilovers on it. Swift make some nice springs for the BL/BP models as to Eibach and H&R. Just a mild drop, some new wheels and tinted windows and people will see enough to turn their heads, but not enough to want to steal it...

You also don't want too much aero - stuff like that flies off and makes the car harder to clean.

If it were me, building the car for my wife, I'd look for a non-OEM grille, an M3-style trunklid spoiler, and maybe some window visors.

no.. im actually about to have to call and ask my dad if he can get it running and primered so that i can ship it to where i am cuz i need a second car.. so ill have a mechanic out by me do it up and have to pay for labor... it sucks so im tying to find alternate routes.. my dad has been teaching me everything so far.

I can understand their hate.. I've been through the show scene and what I have learned is, show car builders are in a world of their own.. from shaved body lines, handles, etc.. to insane electronics there is no practical aspect to doing any of that but its "cool" and has the "wow" factor. Show queens are not for everyone

I have the same hate when I see a GIANT STi wing on 165hp legacy.. but people do what they want and no ones opinion is going to change that.

lol.. yea.. i always wanted a show car.. even tho it is all practically useless upgrades.. i like grabbing peoples attention. lol.. all they wanna do to their teggy's are a jdm lip, couple things under the hood and call it a day.. not i.. i wanted to rebuild the integra cuz it has my fav. motor, the DOHC VTEC.. so i did.. lol.. idk if they truly hate my car, or if they wish they coulda did more to their cars.. lol.. but its whatever. lol.... and yea chuck, ur right.. after i started getting into the show thing, i started realizing i couldnt race my car even if i wanted too.... i put so much extra weight on that car.. lol.. but its still my baby..

Yeah, you should see the turbo! My buddy is nuts. He came by to see my Pulsar and I'm thinking "he wants to see my POS Pulsar" but hes a cool guy, even if you didnt spend enough money to buy a house.

Oh his other project is a 1971? Challenger with again crazy HP... Estimated 1200HP at the wheels... The little punk is like only 25!

Anyway, I can admirer a a nicely built car, even if it's not my thing. I am a JDM nut, but when a car is built by the owner, I respect it that much more, even if I might not like it.

So-Cal Soldier go to Members ides II and make a tread for this car! More people will see it and I like looking at build threads! And as soon as you got pics for that Leggy, do the same for that! Sometimes the motivation to work on and finish a car is when your friends push you!
