PB Blaster Penetrating oil

Many have seen or used it, many have not. If your one who hasent I highly recomend picking up a can of this stuff.

this has saved me a lit of tiems from broken bolts and busted hands. you can tell instantly after spraying that this stuff means business just from the smell(smells to me somthing like diesel fuel and wd-40 mixed together)

If you are planning on working on anything with rusted bolts or anything that has seen heat(turbos, exhaust, engine parts, steering components) Spray this on and let it sit for 30 min to an hour and come back. makes bolts come off like butter. Better yet on really stubborn nuts and bolts spray and let it sit over night. If this wont loosen them up then nothing will!

Overall compared to other penatrating oils this dominates all. I still use WD-40 for general oiling, but when it comes down to the dirt jobs you cant beat this stuff!!!!!!!

I am in the process of restoring a 1927 REO. I have removed parts that are press fitted together and badly rusted. In the past I have tried various penetrating fluids, "Liquid Wrench" and I still had to sperate the parts with a hydraulic press. With PB Blaster I spray it on wait a couple of minutes, tap the part once with a hammer and I am able to separate the parts with my fingers! Thanks for making my restoration easier. First time I used it I had my face less than a foot from the brake bolts I was soaking. When I stood up, I about fell over. ah, good times :drunken:

We go through the stuff like you wouldn't believe.

My usual routine is to spray everything I'll need to loosen before starting work, so it has time to soak in and work its magic. If you get a really stubborn fastener a little heat can help it to penetrate even better.

Good companions for the PB are Scott Shop Towels (the blue ones), and Carb & Choke cleaner, I always have a few around.

seriously though, if i'm under any car and i look at a bolt and say "yeesh... that's gonna suck to remove..."

i douse it thoroughly...

i suggest doing that to the entire rear suspension on your legacies.
i've done it 3 or 4 times now.
spray it enough... more than enough.
spray it when someone is next to you. when they say "holy crap.. are you going to stop spraying that?" move on to the next bolt.

I would recommend an additional 5-10 seconds spray time after the comment has been made... but I spose each person does things differently

i agree i spray it on my cheerios in the morning, and i eat whatever didn't blow all over the table.

but it is good stuff, i also recommend pb blaster car polish too. it's weird stuff, but it works good. they said it works better when you freeze it and use it shortly after it thaws.

I have actually never been impressed with PB Blaster. About the same as Liquid Wench and other products.
Worth makes a rust remover that works better than anything I have ever used! I think it is called Roost Off or something like that, being a "German" product. They have a + version that has a lubricant in it as well and is what I have used. I started using it after getting some in a car parts place that specializes in Mercedes parts.

Is hands down the best penetrating oil on the market, bar none.

My Uncle turned Me on to it. He had a Ford flathead on the engine stand that had sat out in a field for 25 years with the intake uncovered. He told Me that He had been soaking it with Kroil for a couple of days. Then He took a 1/2" drive socket to the crank bolt. A good bump on the breaker bar, and the thing turned over.

Another vote for PB blaster I had to get a can after my bolt on my impreza broke the head of the box wrench.. after hitting the bolt with PB my job was done!

Gotta give another vote for Kroil, We use this stuff at work, actually the silikroil, wich adds a silicon lubricant, and it is flat out amazing. I've honestly never used pb, but kroil is definitely a great option.

I use a mixture of used auto transmission fluid and acetone 50/50 in a spray bottle
shake it first then spray it on
wait a minute or heat with a propane torch first
bam takes apart 18yr old legacys just fine as well as many other cars

Used PB Blaster for years in shops. I found CRC Freeze Off works better to brake loose bolts.

Kroil allowed the 200K mile Exhaust Manifold Nuts to come right off. Then I sprayed the studs, waited 20 mins, and they came out also!

I will also back up the ATF/Acetone mixture - I put it in a pump style oiling can and apply it liberally - stuff really works.
