Hello "cmorgan" welcome to SLi.

Which legacy do you have? LHD or RHD ?

You would need all the supporting hardware from a EJ20R or EJ20H
- exhaust manifold
- turbos
- downpipe
- intake
- ECU
- injectors

etc...

At the same time you said you have a standard EJ20 so I am assuming its non-turbo ? If so you will need to reinforce the motor if you choose to run more then 5-8 psi.

Hi thank you so would it be more cost effective to buy a twin turbo and use parts off it rather than buying all the parts? if so would i have to buy the 98-04 model or could i go earlier on year and would the parts fit on my 01 subaru?

For simplicity you are better off buying the 98-04 BE/BH

"EJ206 - Usage: 1998-2003 Legacy chassis code BE/BH5 JDM GT's, GT-B's and B4's (190 kW (258 PS; 255 bhp) Auto)" -wikipedia

This way you can purchase the above motor from a import/wrecker who has a half cut (front half of the car cut)

This half cut would include supporting items such as:
-wiring harness
-ecu
-manifold/up-pipe/turbos/downpipe/
-front subframe (turbo x-member to clear the manifold)
-random brackets and sensors..

The EJ206 which you could purchase has a better chance at higher levels of power down the line. Its a cheap and easy base to go turbo since you are RHD and have no issues compared to the LHD guys.

Please post more info about yourself.

Oh so you're from the UK..

So is your legacy a UK/EURO spec or is a Japanese import?

Have you looked around to see if any shops/companies specialize in importing half cuts (front clips) or engines?
