2011 rear Legacy calipers, are they an upgrade?

I found a 2011 Legacy PZEV, at Pick and Pull a couple weeks ago. Not much was good one the car since it was burned, but the rear brake where untouched. Figured they were worth picking up, got the rotors, brackets, lines with the calipers.

Has anyone tryed to fit these to another car yet? I was going to see if they might fit my BD, but figured they might not. I'm also going to try on my BH. My guy at Subaru says that fronts are the same as the BH/BE.

I think I paid like $45 for everything so I figured why not...

The PZEV model is the 2.5i, which has:
Front, ventilated disc 11.6"
Rear, solid disc 11.3"
Caliper- single piston

So it's basically the same setup as the 04 GT/03 WRX (I think). The caliper design might be lighter and more efficient, which would be good. Maybe you can weigh it vs the BH rear brake.

When I talked to my guy at Subaru, he said the calipers are the same part numbers for the front back to 2000 for legacy, but he said the rears are a new number and comes up for 2011 only.

I guess I'll see if they fit or not...

I wonder if the inner hub for the e-brake shoes are the same diameter for the BD or BH?

Front calipers have diff. numbers to rear ones... for every year. They have to. They're completely different.

The number he gave me was a super seeded number. Said for 2011 they have the same front calipers and the 2000-2004, at least for this car. Hes good at cross referencing things for me. He also said the re-build kits are the same part number.

Ether way, he said the fronts looked to be the same. Same pads, o-rings and such.

I just looked the front up on car-part and the interchange goes back to 2003 (non-turbo) Legacy, Baja, 3.0 LL bean... Ok, so it must be the bigger ones for the BH/BE that are the same. Damn those are cheap! Price range is $25-50...

Rears come up for 2010 and 2011 only. I'm gonna see if these work on my BD. I need new brake on it anyway and that might be a size upgrade. I'll look at my BH today and see if they are the same or not. Swapping new wheels on it anyway...

Ok, I got an update...

Rotors are completely useless for anything other then a 5th gen... E-brake drum is way too big.

So they wont work on a BD/BG/BK without a lot of work. Need backing plate and also modify it to accommodate the caliper bracket.

They might work on a BH/BE with some work. The BE/BH rotors should work just find, very close to the same diameter. Again, the caliper brackets are too big.

I tried switching the brackets, but the bolt holes are off by about 1/8 of an inch. I'm still gonna try a few other things and see what I can come up with. The calipers look like they might be lighter, but not sure. If the car is still there with the hubs, I'll pick them up just to see if I can retro fit some other things to work. I'm kinda curious to see if it would with the backing plate and e-brake parts. The depth of the rotor is the same, so it might...

Also the brake lines are different. They have a tab for a 10mm bolt to mount them to the suspension.

The brake rotor sizes are pretty much the same as the 03-04 Legacy GT. All 00-04's got solid 11.3" rear rotors...the fronts changed to the larger WRX size (295mm/11.5") in the last 2 years of production for the GT model, maybe the outbacks too.
