I took out my spare tire since I don't use it (wheel setup) and lately the thin woodcover can't handle the groceries I put on top of it.

There's a thread here about the jdm trunk tray viewtopic.php?f=8&t=23121 (http://www.sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=23121) and its about $275

Some say they have the tray on they're wagon/outback with the lid and some just have the tray (no lid). This is what I found out when I was at the junkyard. You have to get the older legacy (1st gen) cargo tray and lid. They are basically the same as the 2nd gen except the lid are actually screwed on to the bracket to mount to the frame.

Plus it has 2 metal rods that runs across for more sturdiness

here is the tray

You need a dremel, a drill (i think i used 5/16), philips
You also need the tray, lid and screws that holds the lid from the 1st gen legacy wagon

Trim the tray like so. There's a couple of metal bracket where the old wood cover used for support

Cut the lid where red line is. You have to trim a little more on top of the middle to accommodate for the hump from the latch

Not straight but you get the idea lol

This is my finish product

Lay it over the tray and make sure it clears. Its a tight fit but you can lift it up from the sides. Then use the mounting bracket as a guideline and drill where the mounting holes are. It actually follows the contour of the BD. Don't worry the fuel tank is not underneath.

Its not pretty where you cut it but its usually covered anyways. You can probably use somekind of urethane or plastic to fill in the holes but to me it'll be too much work

Waaaalaaaa. You just save yourself a bunch of money and didn't have to switch insurance

For extra I grabbed myself a wagon all-weather mat. Also not an exact fit but it'll work

I think I spent $50 all together and that's including the all-weather mat. So maybe around 30-40 if you just want the tray/lid.

Thanks fellahs! Carbon would of been great. I still haven't put tools in the tray besides the tire iron lol. Probably put extra bulbs/fuses there just in case
