Hi, :smt006
I've been a member on here for a while but never really used the forum. As I have recently started reading the forum again, I thought I would re-introduce myself.

I've done a lot to the car recently too.

Its a JDM Legacy RS from 1997. Mechanically, it is running the slightly larger turbos from a GT model and a Tommy Kaira ECU. I also have 4 pot brakes up front with drilled and grooved disks all round.
Suspension was the optional STI bilstein shocks from the factory. I have uprated the drop links all round, increased the size of the ARB's and replaced the worn bushes with polybushes and fitted a Whiteline anti lift kit. Topping it off is the Mines lower 'H' brace.

Externally, It has the bootlid and rear spoiler from an RS-B which is slightly different to an RS. It also has an Impreza STI style rear window spoiler. At the front is a very rare Legacy STI front bumper that I had imported from Japan.

I,ve just changed out the gearbox and rear diff for GTB items which has the 4.444 ratios.

Most of the mechanical and suspension items were uprated when we were planning our European Epic Run last September. Basically, we drove 2500 miles, starting in France, driving through Paris, down to the Millau Bridge, on to the Col de Turini, Monaco, the San Bernardino Pass through the Alps before spending a weekend at the Nurburgring. 8 twin turbo legacies, 1 normally aspirated Legacy, 16 people, 2500 miles through 8 countries in 10 days. One awesone trip.

Anyway, heres my car. The top picture is the most recent

It also has an Impreza STI style rear window spoiler.

Welcome Back. Great looking Legacy. Where did you come across the rear window spoiler at. I would love to have one on my car.

Thanks for the compliment. The spoiler was just a generic Impreza one. I didn't know for sure that it would fit, so I just went for the cheapest on Ebay. The rear pillers are a slightly different shape than an Impreza so I had to slightly change the profile of the mounting plates.

Really nice car. The rear window spoiler really looks good from those angles. Do you have a rear angle picture of it?
Anyways, welcome back!

Oh and just FYI - the Bilsteins weren't optional on the RS's. ALL RS's '96-'97 has Bilsteins (no car had Bilsteins before that). And there's no such thing as an RS-B. That's all just stuff I learned from Subaru brochures, catalogs, and factory manuals (living there didn't hurt either).

I must have a picture somewhere of the rear, I will look it out.

Mine is a 96MY car but was first registered in 97. As standard it would have come with non Bilsteins as standard. (not sure what make they would have been) As you say, the 96-97 model of RS came as standard with yellow bilsteins and the extra badge on the rear. Mine is a bit of an odd ball. It has the STI badged, pink shocks. I had no idea how original these were, but one of the guys on another forum told me they were options at the time the car was new. The only thing I know for certain is that the ride is a lot stiffer than the yellow Bilsteins.

Found a rear picture

Yeah, that window spoiler looks good from any angle. :smt023

And I just noticed your trunk..... It's weird and I can't figure it out.
The cars that had a rear spoiler (and thus, a 3rd brake light there) got the standard trunk, but the cars that didn't have a rear spoiler got the trunk lid with a 3rd brake light. You have both.... So do they all light up when you hit the brakes?

Well spotted. :smt023 That pic was taken when I was in the process of changing the lids. The cars original lid has the lamp in the metal work. On the later RS, the lamp is in the spoiler. I had painted the spoiler and fitted it and the paint was still being done on the lid, hence the temporary mismatch.

Wow .. those are some rare bits on your Lego.

Yamazaki remember hes EDM :-D Remeber when I asked you about the Impreza GT .. and you didn't know what that was.. You just never know which options Subaru of Europe (SOE) decided to use :-D

"Notes:
The RSB and GTB models are a mid life update for the BD/BG series. Externally the most obvious change is the fog lights becoming a rectanglar shape. Performance wise the intruduction of the EJ20R provides more torque and an increase to 280 hp or 205 kw. (The maximum allowable in the Japanese market).

This extra power is only available in the manual versions as the automatic was deemed not strong enough to handle the extra power.

An extra performance option available is the "B spec". The "B" stands for Bilstein shock absorbers and they provide a stiffer more performance orientated suspension.

The RSB and GT-B models also posess the 4-channel abs braking system from the Impreza WRX series.

The RSB sedan is nowhere near as popular as the wagon, mostly due to the current market's station wagon fever. Performance should be slightly superior to the wagon, due to about a 50kg weight difference."

Anyways.. I have never seen that bumper, skirts, rear lip before...

Don't be a tease :-D post more shots :-D

Chuck,

Its a JDM Legacy RS from 1997.

Also, that site you posted just has pics of Japanese cars and doesn't actually say it's Euro spec anywhere (besides the fact that it's a NZ site). As far as I can tell, it's "some guy" spreading that "RS-B" nonsense I was talking about earlier. You know how I feel - if it isn't from Subaru directly, it's BS.
