DIY'er seat....

So couple weeks ago I noticed that my driver seat was kinda crushed on the door side of the seat. I just thought it was squished from me sitting on it but it never popped back. Then about a week ago when I was doing the transmission power mode ground I found myself sitting on it again. At this point I told my self "sit straight" everytime I get in or work on the car. Then of course today while vacuuming I found myself again sitting on it.

So I thought it would be interesting to see who has this cronic DIY'er type seat wear and how many have been good little boys and sat straight.

My old seat was horribly smooshed. One of the main reasons for getting WRX seats. Now that I have the higher bolstering, it's difficult not to unintentionally smash it down. I consciously get in and out of the car carefully too, because I want them to last.

You know, I have always sat straight in my seat's. Sometimes I dont but 90% of the time I sit normal to keep my seat from going to crap.

However, this is not a result of being fat, or sitting wrong. This happens from YOU getting in and out of the car. It's like Nissan 240sx seats. They get broke down super fast with guys driving them because no one really think about getting into the car. The left bolsters break down like this. Women tend to sit in a car proper to start, even more so when they have a dress or a skirt. They will sit in the middle of the seat and rotate in, we men tend to slide over the seat and slide over the bolster.

The seat in my GT, is not that bad, comparing to most I see. I tend to slide over it every now and then, but make an effort to miss the bolster as much as possible. My wight fluctuates a lot from 190-210. I have never had a problem with seats braking down, other then my 83 Celica I had. That was when I was 18 and that same bolster you have a pic posted of got worn fast and I didnt get it till a friend told me about this... I changed the way I get in and out of the car when I learned about it. the seat, no joke, lasted longer...

My stock seats were really bad to the point that I could feel the frame of the seat or something when I sat in it. Funny thing is I didnt notice that until I got my car back from the shop after they replaced a door. I asked them about it and they said their workers have a stool to sit on, uh huh sure. I ended up getting WRX seats and have been really cautious about it

you know after thinking about this.. i really don't see how its possible for anyone to sit straight if they use their dead pedal / clutch? My left leg is always against the door panel and I am always pressing against the side of the seat.. Plus the constant clutching.. ..

^ I sit straight all the time, but my car is also an Auto, maybe thats part of it, but even at that, I have little of my mass body wight of the side bolsters.

However, in my Wagon (manual), I sit the same way as I do in my BD that is an Auto... I guess I'm the odd man out that sits straight... haha.... I think it was my Celica and my Silvia that made me think about doing it more, and also having a bad back...
