Ej22e exaust setup

ive got a 95 legacy and i want to do a full custom exhaust setup on it. what i would like to know is: what headers, cat, size of pipe, and muffler should i use for the best performance.


and on another note what is the stock exhaust size on a early 2000's outback with a ej25? i need a good cat for it

I'm not really sure about what performance mods would be best for your car (though it appears in other threads that smaller piping is better for the backpressure?)... what I did want to ask though is what you plan to do with your old parts when you get the custom stuff installed? My exhaust is pretty much shot if you know what I mean.

The general agreement is that 2.25" piping is best for a non-turbo application where you're not doing a monster engine build.

Some Borla or Borla knockoff headers should do the trick for you. Your 95 should use dual port exhaust heads, but you'll want to look underneath to verify that they aren't single ports. There isn't much out there for single port headers, custom. 4zero1Motorsports is toying with the idea of some single port headers though.

I'd recommend a custom header-back exhaust with hi-flow cat(s) and a resonator & muffler added in by an exhaust shop. You could also cannibalize a WRX or STi catback system as there are lots of them out there for cheap and the bends are all correct.

A BE/BH exhaust system will not be any kind of upgrade for you.
