When looking for wheels to clear my 4 pots I couldn't find much info and it was pretty frustrating.

I did come across a Japanese page with some info that I'll post up here but I'd like to get others to add to it so we can get a good database. I'll be adding pics and cleaning it up in the future so bear with me.

The current way to read it (would like to make it an easier to read table but not sure how to do it in a forum post) is...

BRAND
Wheel name
clear 4 pots ? = yes, x = no, - = unsure
offset
weight

17" on the left/18" on the right

Make sense?

Also it would be great if people could add the info in a similar format because I don't know much about wheels, will make it easier for me to add.

Brand
Wheel name (17" or 18")
Clear 4 pots yes/no/? Brembos yes/no/?
offset
weight

mesh or spoked

extra info: stock rims (from which car) or aftermarket, forged or cast etc.

basically if its a 17 or 18 inch wheel, and we are talking about non Brembo 4pots, they will all fit if you have a proper offset. it only becomes hard to selects wheels when you want 15s and 16s that will clear subaru 4pots.

It's also the spoke design.

You know it's probably more help to those of us with JDM cars (members in Japan, Canada, the UK, Australia and NZ but it can't hurt having it here) as the 4 pot conversion is very common and a straight bolt on, . Thinking about it now, you guys probably call it an STi brake conversion or something, 294mm rotors and Subaru 4 pots from the Impreza and various other Subarus, I've been pointed in the direction of a NASIOC thread that lists wheels that clear Brembos so I'll be adding that info too.

no, people that know subarus still call 4pots, 4pots, and Brembos, Brembos are still brembos regardless of what country they're from. There's absolutely nothing special to fitting FHI 4 pots, you just need two things for alloys for definitive fitment: a 16" or larger wheel and a 7" or wider cross section.

It's when you try to fit 15" wheels that you need to worry about spoke design.

Is this an April fools' joke? :smt021

So there was nothing special needed for me to fit 4 pots to my BG5 GT-b with 17x7" rims?

Except new rims!

Stock BG5 16" rims don't clear, stock BG5 17x7" rims don't clear. I even posted it again for you to see.

Yokohama AVS model 7 17x7.5" don't clear, model 5 17x7.5" do.

Tecnocast Corsia 17x7" don't clear.

UK and Australian forum members knew exactly what I meant and started contributing.

Oh yeah, the older JDM models had the SUBARU embossed on the front of the caliper, so you need another 3mm or so of spoke clearance. Yours needs offsets of +48 or lower. My bad. The USDM 4 pots don't have as much of a problem as the logos are just decals.

Your setup is not wheel diameter limited like the Brembos. The spoke clearance just needs to be taken care off but its not as difficult as finding wheels that will clear the bigger brakes that subaru put on their cars. Best bet? Turn the wheel over and look to see the that the hub area has some decent distance from the spokes that are connected to it.

No worries.

Yeah the few mm makes a difference, it's possible just to grind it off if you have the ability.

Looking at the reverse side of the rim can work (or you could even make a template to make it easier), I did it in a shop to compare a set of Kyoho Tracers that I knew would clear and a set of Speedlines that looked like they wouldn't, but if you're buying online then that isn't an option.

The BG has limited space inside and out (especially with the Bilsteins) so this is obviously more geared toward a width and offset similar to stock that won't cause any clearance or rubbing issues. The width isn't specified in the original site and I assume they're all 7" or 7.5", the NASIOC thread listing wheels that clear Brembos is great but they're mostly Impreza focussed, so 8" or wider, I need to go through and sort the ones more suited to the Legacy.
