Someone Enlighten me and Help With My Decision. Alright so here is where i'm tore, i have a 2.2l single port 1997 legacy brighton(daily driver). i've done a tech upgrade and a vibrant muffler, but i'm looking for my next new upgrade under $400.
Intake:
So i thought about buying an cold air intake for the leggy, but i've read our cars basically have cold air intakes stock, and would be worth just buying a good filter? Is this true or will you gain anything from a cai our then looks and sounds.

Light Weight Pulley:
Yet again i have read there amazing and also that its basically a show piece and waste of money. Lots of people say it revs more freely but yet nothing special and you'll probably end up installing the stock one again.

If anyone else has any other suggestions on what i should do next feel free!

cold air intakes, hell even short ram intakes for our cars is nothing more than a noise maker. As for the pulley I've heard that they help and personally haven't heard anything bad about them.

Maybe upgrade the ignition coil? Inexpensive and seems to work well from what the responses on SLi have to say. I haven't done it yet but am planning on it. Any of the bushing upgrades or shifter mounts seem to be good bang for your buck too.

sadly to the flywheel its going to me way too much work to do in my drive way and end up costing more then 400$, i might do the lightweight pulley and msdignition then, already thought about sway bars but wayy too much

You could replace lots and lots of bushings for that money. It would make the car feel & behave a lot better.

You will never want to go back to a stock crank pulley after driving with a LED pulley, that's ridiculous.

getting light weight pulley.
Today at the oil change place the guy looks at me and says "Where's the intake?"
and i told him why would i take a stock cold air intake and make it a warm one?
he then says its called short ram (lol) and says but they give you heat sheilds...
i shake my head

^ he's not wrong.... a short ram is exactly what they are called. also as mentioned tires, bushings or swaybars will be way more enjoyable then a light weight pulley... IMO trying to make "power" with an na 2.2 without diving deep into the engine is a big waste of time and money.

This is also a great suggestion. Even WRX seats. When I got mine (03 WRX seats), I really felt like it was the best money I'd ever spent on the car.

But seriously, like StatGSR said, suspension upgrades are a much better use of 400 bucks than any engine mods are for smile/fun factor.

any recomandations for a hi flo cats? I'm looking to get my exhuast louder , but yet still classy. everyday i get in my car and sit in it more ideas pop into my head.

What condition are your break pads/rotors/calipers/etc in? If they need replacement you could upgrade for that price possibly (or paint with high heat paint)...

got the car in january lady just replaced the brakes (had all service records to prove it), clutch also , and took it to the dealership for every little thing, so the car is mint

Get cams, that'd under $400. I don't care what anyone says about the 2.2l. From when I got it stock to what its at now its a whole different car. It's far more enjoyable, and it can get out of its own way. Is it a beast? Absolutely not... but Im not trying to make it one. It's a DD and its fun to drive. Getting the right mods to even out the car to make it more enjoyable is key.
