I've had a strange noise since I installed my aftermarket downpipes. It almost sounds like wind blowing through paper. I have checked for leaks, made sure the turbo was ok, and I have not found anything. Is this normal wastegate noise since there's more airflow?

What muffler are you running? Catted or non catted?

it's aftermarket downpipes, catless and an aftermarket muffler

Well I figured it was aftermarket. But there are quality mufflers like flowmaster, and there is glass packs, like cherrybomb, and there are the shitty checker/eBay 'hi flow' mufflers. The quality ones mostly change tone and make the exhaust louder but the ebay and other rice boy cheapo mufflers sometimes don't muffle enough so u can hear the waste gate. Distinctly.
Although anytime u try to get the internet to dyagnos a sound is a crap shoot. Take it to a mechanic that listen to it, cuz taking any noise diagnosis from the internet is absolutely insane lol!

i looked it up and it seems to be a common thing after installing downpipes or uppipes. i had the muffler custom made an an exhaust place here in Okinawa.

You should go back to a cat if you want it to sound nice. Catless always adds a lot of harshness to an exhaust tone.

I'm not worried about noise as long as it doesn't effect performance.

I dont think that.. in non turbo cars, yes, but the turbo quiets things down. I'll do a video with my exhaust which in my mind sounds perfect. Sounds like a rally car, but doesn't have the drone on the freeway, almost has a (I know this sounds dumb but) German tone to it.almost like a loud BMW exhaust on a rally car.

I don't thInk you understand what I meant. If the noise I'm talking about doesn't hurt the performance and it's because of the amount of airflow, I'm ok with it.

Yeah, catless makes SFA difference in the turbo's I think, the turbo already does a lot to quiet things down. Anyway, my first thoughts for the problem are the downpipes not mating nicely to the turbo's, and there being an exhaust leak somewhere.

And a catless exhaust for you:

What would you recommend? I could get some high temp silicone and try to seal it that way?

First try find out if that is actually the cause...

I've tried to refit it, swap out the turbo, gasket, and can't seem to figure it out.
