Hey. I'm Thom.

I have a beard and I like wagons. That pretty much covers it.

Ok. I'm a recovering 80's RWD toyota addict. Just sold my Cressida, and I ran through a handful of Supras before that. Before I find myself a '74 Celica to play with, I have to get a new daily to haul around my detailing supplies, my fiancee, and my siberian husky. That's where SLi comes in... I'm here to soak up as much knowledge as possible so I can make a well informed decision when I'm looking at a used legacy/OB.

Welcome, my questions are what years are you looking at and how long is the beard?

95-99. Beard's 3 or 4 inches, I had trimmed it down from wizard/viking length in February.

I just missed out on a minty postal wagon for $2k. I didn't have the cash at the time. :smt011 There's another 96 postal wagon on CL for $1600, but it has mismatched paint, missing the carpet, only has the front seats, and a couple other small issues.

HAAHAAHAHAHAH best intro ever!!

Welcome to SLi.

If you can score a 00-04 wagon that is the best value for rear cargo area. But minor little things that you have mentioned can be easily found on SLi / Local forums / ebay classifieds / craigslist..

If you have the time and the patiences then rebuild and enjoy the Lego experience

Lol Mike

And don't forget to make a members ride thread about your yotas, most of us are car enthusiasts not just Subaru... but sometimes we can be a little bias to the Legacy lol

To add to what Chuck said, the 00-04 wagons are also a lot quieter and more refined.

They are heavier though.

This was during a blizzard, taking the husky for a walk. He enjoyed it more than I did.

Had to trim it down, otherwise I'd have to tuck the beard in my shirt/hoodie while working with the rotary polisher

Soooooo... Test drove a 1997 outback tonight. 5 spd + 2.5L. Needs a radiator and a detail. Agreed on terms, shook hands, and I should be bringing it home Tuesday. I'll post what I paid for it when I get it home...you guys will probably hate me, muahahaha

Love the interior and btw whats that on the rear of your glove box, your not the first legacy I've seen with that and I want one whatever it is.

Thomistopheles

I'll figure out what that is when I pick it up, I was too focused on making sure it was mechanically sound to pay much attention to the interior.

^^ It's the rear cupholder... I've never seen a working one in the wild, unfortunately.

Already making plans. Compartment separator for the husky, JDM tails and headlights, tint, master cylinder brace, suspension swap to lower it, hatch spoiler, LGT snowflakes, borla header + high flow cat + 2.5" SS to a borla muffler, intake, and a SL-i sticker.

A quick photoshop:

Hey. I'm Thom. I have a beard and I like wagons.

BEST INTRO EVER!!!!!

haha welcome to the forums! I have a secret love for vintage imports. My buddy just sold his 72 Datsun 510 and I regret not chipping in a bid. If I ever find a late 70s Corolla I would say my life was fulfilled. lol

My buddy Eddie has a '76 datsun 610 that will be for sale soon. I think he has a 510 and 210 on ebay right now.

They're all in need of restoration though. We're going to do some body work on the 610, get it in primer, tune it up, lower it, swap in a 5spd, and get some decent wheels on it before selling. I'm just about done detailing his '74 mazda rx-4 wagon (day 5, my back is killing me) so the 610 is our next project.

Another Yota guy! HAHA! I've had a few trucks (still have one).... and a number of 83-85 RA64 Celicas.

Also Red85Celica (Brad), has had a butt load of 70's Celicas, a few Cressidas, and other Yotas. His 85 Celica is getting some motor work done.

Thats a clean looking BG you picked up! Cant wait to see whats in store for it :smt023

I've had the 87 Cressida, half a dozen A70 supras from 300-580whp, an 85 rolla, and an 85 celica supra. Once I've got the OB all set for daily duty, it'll be time to track down a 73/74 celica coupe.

100% HUSKEH APPROVED!

Upon the Subaru's arrival at my house, the Subaru was subjected to rigorous testing...both the sniff AND lick test were employed in this inspection. Luckily it passed both, and the car has received approval from Woden von Huskybutt.

1000 bucks?! In WI? That's outrageously awesome.

If you come across a deal like that again, let me know. I'd be willing to drive to Madison.

The exhaust crapped out this morning. The wife commented that it sounded much better
Planned on a borla header and exhaust anyway, so no big deal there.

Obsessively checking craigslist pays off sometimes! I'll let you know if anything good pops up around here.

Very tempting. If I ever come in contact with another 510 for sale I'm definitely buying it! lol Glad to see your dog is approving of this ride. If you want cheap headers go on eBay and look up "Subaru UEL Headers". Should be around $150 for a set of knock off borlas.
