I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, I just put in my new Boston Acoustic component speakers in the ront doors, well actually i got one in, once it was in i decided to see if there would be any issuses with rolling the window down....and there was. I can get the window down to about 2/3 of the way and then it hits the back of the speaker and pops the screw out, which then makes it vibrate because the speaker is loose.....At the moment i only have the pasenger side speaker in so it isn't a big deal because i usually don't roll that window down too far anyways...its the drivers side that i am worried about since that window gets the most up/down action....so i guess im wondering if anyone has ran into this problem and how they fixed it? I will try to post some pictures of the window mechanism that hit the speaker and then comparison between stock and the aftermarket speakers because there is a huge difference..... any help if appreciated
If its any help i have a 96 legacy outback wagon....

what size are the speakers and how deep? Did you use the stock black spacer? Id try adding more spacers

the speakers are 6.5" and the mounting depth is is believe 2 7/16", i tried to see if they would fit into the stock mounting spacers but they won't fit because of this strange cover on the back, you probably know what they look like....i used the 1/2" spacer that came with the speakers, probably another half inch would be more than enough....

Id try to cut up the stock spacer so it will fit. Helps keep the speaker flush. Or maybe use the stock spacer as a base, and then put small spacers in between the speaker and the base.
Therse lot of room in the door to bring the speaker out so it shouldnt be too bad to get them to fit

I went to the craft store and found some craft foam, so i think i can make a makeshift spacer from that, im about ready to go out and see how they will work, well i hope

it seemed to work, the window isn't hitting the back of the speaker and the screw holding it in, which is great.....hopefully the door panel will fit back on

Not sure if they will work in the legacy but I used them on my STi and they worked great. A must for high end speakers with large magnets
