Is ther any adjustment for the hood release

Hi,

I searched the site but was unable to uncover anything useful.

I have a 1996 legacy outback. My hood is difficult to open using the release lever in the cockpit. I usually have to pull it (and pray) multiple times before it releases the hood. Is there any adjustment that can be made to the mechanism to restore normal operation? My guess is that the cable is stretched, can that be easily replaced?

Possibly the cable... but if you remove your grill you'll see that the bolt holes on the hood release are bigger than necessary to accommodate aligning it. I had to do that when I replaced my hood for one with a scoop. Trial and error.
