ok so i noticed i have this HUGE intake/ram air scoop under my hood. it was "oh cool ram air" untill i recently noticed this. why would they do that?
thats right its blocked off?

It's probably blocking bugs and rocks from flying into the intake. Not a bad mod though, as nothing would ever reach the air filter, much less the MAP sensor.

I saw that and without doing any measuring or comparing I thought it rested just above the intake to prevent air form going over it. I'll take a look and if it does infact sit in front of it I will probably also remove it.

if you do remove it the "screw" isent a screw its a expanding clip. 1/4 turn is all you need to take it out

I've been driving around with my hood scoop completely open for the last 2 years in the rain, whatever. Besides the engine bay being really dirty, nothing bad has happened. I'm also running with a CAI too and my filter has a dry bag over it.

have you gotten the time to measure it out yet. i havent gone on any long drives to find out if it dose in fact help or not.
