just curious about your guys opinion,
is it really worth getting HID'S for a BE reflector assembly? I don't wanna end up being the H.i I.m a D.ickhead on the other side of the road

if so Wats the best HID kit for the price?

if not, what halogen is the brightest?

I know its an age old arguements but I'm just tryin the gain some knowledge and insight on the subject

Well you could get the JDM HID's (like the ones I have for sale, wink wink).

I'll stay out of the argument due to lack of knowledge... but the reflectors are designed differently apparently, someone posted pics of the 2 side by side and you could see the difference clearly. Make of that what you will.

I was looking at HID assemblies but then found out that there smaller than USDM ones and I didn't wanna do any major mods to get them to fit. I found some brand new GT assemblies on amazon for $50 a side shipped all together for $150, they should be comin anyday but I wanna get a good setup with my bulbs when they come in.

This is a fantastic site for explaining why you don't want to put HID's into the halogen housing. If you decide to go with it, you have a couple of options: retrofit, or JDM HID (which are not projectors, but the housing is designed for the HID output). Otherwise you'll end up being the guy you don't wanna be.

Best of luck in your decision, I personally have 4500k HID's in my JDM's and I absolutely adore the light output. Also, I haven't been flashed once. One small thing worth mentioning, I'm not as huge of a fan of them in heavy rain. They do illuminate perfectly fine, but much less so than in the dry. Nothing disconcerting, because everything still "pops" out at you due to the reflection of the light, but you don't see the beam pattern like you otherwise would.

Thnx for the info Garrison!
I was really leaning towards going Halogen anyway, since i dont have HID assemblies it would just be blinding to everyone else and not as effective as a projector would be anyway.

Wats your opinion in the best halogen to throw in there then?
ive read some stuff about HIR's but i know that they dont make them in an H1 from what i can find at least

ive also read up on osram nightbreakers but i hear they suck for longevity sakes

No problem amigo,

As far as halogens it sounds like you understand the relationship, the higher the output- the lower the longevity. Osrams have received nothing but praise and accolades online, but I have never used them personally. Also, their price makes them difficult to justify to me.

I would grab some silvanas or anything else recommended on the above website (Stern definitely knows his sh*t). At the end of the day their output are all going to be relatively similar, save for the color temperature.

www.rallylights.com (http://www.rallylights.com) has a good selection of Hella bulbs, my personal favorite if you're not looking to spend a lot of money.

Yay! good luck with the halogen's, also make sure your lenses are clear as possible and they're aimed correctly. There's a 3rd gen in my town that HID's in her halogen lights and the glare in the rear view mirror in the middle of the day was unbelievable when she was behind me...

I went to get new headlight bulbs from Candlepower. I asked Kenny Franklin who works there which is better, The Osram Night Breaker Ultra High Output +90 or the Phillips Extreme Power. His answer was "They were designed with a different goal in mind. The Osrams are trying to achieve the whitest light possible through the use of 2 different layers of blue tint on the bulb, one at the base and one at the tip". ME-So the Osrams are brighter? Kenny-"They're about the same overall brightness but they have slightly different color temperatures, Osram is the whiter of the 2". ME-Which will be better at lighting up wet pavement and during inclement weather? Kenny-"Neither. If that's your goal then I would use Osrams 70/65 Watt Off Road Rallys. (they are over watt bulbs) I've tried both the Nightbreakers and the Phillips', Both were better than stock, but on my wifes car and mine we use the Osram Rallys". ME-OK, I'll take a pair. After having them a couple months I am pleased with the decision.

The higher up the spectrum you go, the worse the light will be in rainy conditions. Yellower is better for that.
