so i have myself one of the california spec ej222's in my 99 legacy.

i noticed a couple months ago that i was consuming lots of oil, and kinda ruled everything
but a frying piston ring out.

i think that ring MAY have completely fried, it hesitates, overfuels, makes NO power up hills and
has an unsteady idle.

luckily i have had plans for a turbo build in the works and finally have the means to actually start it.

however this is my DD and need it to run until i can have my build ready to swap in, any one know of anyways to alleviate/prolong my motors problems for around a month?

Have you checked the coil pack, plugs & wires? The hesitation, unsteady idle, & lack of power may come from that. The rest of the symptoms do seem to sound like what you're thinking though. Take care of the big issue first, then see how it behaves.

Find another used EJ22 and swap it in.

well i just bought a 257 block that's going underneath the 251 heads I've had sitting in my garage, for a minute. so if anyone wants a 251 short block and a 222 longblock in the next month or two they'll be available. ;)
