Flywheel options?

I'll be doing a trans swap on my Scoob here soon and I need a new flywheel, I'm thinking about getting a lightweight flywheel. Yay or Nay? If so what kind of brands should I keep an eye open for and about how much will it cost? Thanks guys :cool:

Back on topic - typically the most purchased brands I see on our cars are Exedy (2 different weights available) and ACT. Given that both brands make clutch kits, they know a few things. Really, it's up to you to decide what weight flywheel you want and match it with your clutch. I try to stick to the same brand if budget allows.

I believe Exedy has a 9lb flywheel and a 12lb - stock is somewhere around 20lbs I believe, so even the 12lb is a significant weight saving on the rotational mass.

If I was going to spend the money on a light weight flywheel I would look at one with a replaceable friction surface like Assco (http://www.aascomotorsports.com/flywheels/subaru.html). They are about $360 but the replacement friction surface is usually less then $100.

I have a lightweight Exedy flywheel and I love it! Really wakes up the car. It does make climbing hills from a stop harder since you have to rev it up more.

I have the Exedy FF02 and like it a lot too. I had a Fidanza before and liked the way it drove but I smoked it and it couldn't be resurfaced because it was a two-piece design.
