Ever push your Subie to the limit?

Me, the girlfriend, her grandmother, and her grandmothers friend were out shopping for a microwave stand for the new apartment. We found this comfy couch for only $65 so we ended up buying it. We had 100 yards of 900 pound break strength rope with us so screw a pickup truck we used the wagon. We fit 4 people comfortably inside (since it was piled with pillows lol). Sad part of the story is that halfway home it started pouring down rain.

Our BH Outback has had over around 1000 lbs of rocks in it before. Also used it and my car to move home from my college apartment in one trip. Bed in/on one and couch in the other along with various other things in both.

I dont have any really crazy storys like this, I own 3 trucks... :grin:

I did once have a complete front end for a 2000 Honda Civic in my car, hood was on my Yakima rack... This was the BD... Yes, it all fit in a sedan...

Also recently had 5 normal sized guys, snowshoes, skis/snow borads, packs, and food in my BD! Rode like crap with the H&R's! It was bottomed out the whole time! :smt005

I went offroading with my bd all the time on jeep and quad trails. Basically drive til you either don't fit or your too low

With myself in the car, I was right at weight capacity. The car accelerated and braked surprisingly well considering.

the most my legacy has ever seen is a complete 2.2L long-block in the trunk, which makes the rear suspension ride on the bump stops.

as far as overlouding a car goes I packed all my stuff from my 1st apartment into a 97 Hyundai accent. everything was tetris'd in, no rear visibility, and barely able to get it into reverse

The only time I ever pushed my legacy was back when I had that massive turbo on it. I wanted to see if it would go sideways, so making a right hand turn onto an empty road I punched the throttle. As the RPM rose, the turbo kicked in and, yes... these things will go sideways on asphalt.

However, no-one ever makes mention of the violent jerking motion that occurs when all 4 wheels kick in. My wagon literally launched itself across the street, into the other lane, and was already banging off the rev limiter in second before I could even manage to change gears. Truly, I am unable to put into words the ferocity of the occasion.

It made me love subarus all the more :smt026 :grin: :smt023

Before my system I had 2 people in front, 3 in back, and 1 in the trunk area (wagon)... that was a fun trip :-p

Also hauled a bed for someone by holding it onto the top of the car. lol

Had a fully built Cosworth STi motor in the back of mine when it was lowered. It lowered it a bit more, but not too bad.

More that quadrupled the value of my car though!

Hauled a FC RX7 front subframe, suspension, 4 pot brakes, BFG drag radials, and a passenger the other day with a ton of space left.

I was supposed to go pick up a 13B, 5spd, driveshaft, and everything that can be unbolted from a FC's engine bay this morning, but the funds fell through. :-(

Complete 13B and 5spd from an 87 RX-7, plus various conversion bits from the 87 and a 79. Pedal assemblies, master cylinders, clutch cylinders, all sorts of fancy stuff. Plenty of room to spare.

All that stuff turned the baller husky hauler into a saggin' wagon, but I was surprised it didn't go lower with all that weight in the back.

My friend and I got a 4wheeler, a cooler, tent, food, and other nessisary camping stuff in his outback, I've had a couch in mine, my gpa frequently has lawn mowers and such with his and my co worker pulls broken cars to our second shop daily. As far as limits go on my legacy, I did 140+ in it. 5th gear, 6500 rpms for like 6 miles.

I had mine stacked to the ceiling, from the back of the front seats - back. Moved some 1600 odd k's away from home, and had everything from 3 computers, to a full set of STi wheels.

Agreed - this weekend I bought a used IKEA desk off Craigslist - it dismantled but the widest part of the desk was not as wide as the "window line" mark on the wagon, I also scored a free TV stand (also IKEA). The owners of the desk laughed when I pulled up, because when they bought the desk they had to strap it to the roof. I just took it apart, loaded all the bits, and waved bye-bye.

Not exactly loaded to the limit but definitely pushed the engine to its limit this night. Got distracted while taking the picture (for obvious reasons :twisted: ) so I think I topped out somewhere around 135 maybe 140. All on the stock 165 pony's and in the 5280 mile high city baby!

Well that's faster than I've ever gone in the beast... Still have the stock ECU, JDM ECU's are limited to 180kph (111mph in ye olde units).

Needless to say it reaches that speed with ease...
