Hey guys

I am in the process of stripping out the interior and removing redundant systems ( the car is to be used for rally sprint autocross etc ), so far the AC and all its gear have come out, as well as the whole interior , started on the sound deadening. My question is if its ok to remove the wiring thats associated with the seatbealt pre tensioners ( SRS ) or will that cause problems with the ecu, also has anyone ever removed the ABS control modules that lurk under the dash and in other places around the car and if so did you have any problems, I dont plan on removing the actual ABS pump system, but rather the control units for it as I dont require the ABS.

Cheers

Pete

It'll trip an SRS light, but shouldn't affect how the car runs at all. The SRS has its own module right behind/underneath the ash tray.

Just remember to have your battery disconnected when doing SRS stuff, as any weird thing could pop the airbags.

As far as disabling the ABS, just unplug the fuse or make a switch for it.

I would leave the ABS alone, just pull the fuse.

As for the Airbags (SRS), Unplug them with the battery unhooked is the proper way, you dont want to blow them and take out the window, your face, or make your ears ring. Nothing associated will change anything with how the car runs, just turns a light on in your cluster, and that can be removed as well. If you have no intention of re-installing this system, you can drop a few LBS with taking out the bags, wiring, and brain.

Just for the love of monkeys, take everything out the right way with unplugging and unbolting! Kills me when people just rip parts out and dont care, even in a race car...

Thanks for the info, battery is already out of the car, its always one of the first things i pull, and as to pulling out properly I always do just in case I ever have to put stuff back I want it to go back in easy, or if I want to sell some of it it always easier to sell if all the plugs and wirining is intact
