I had a used 4eat put into my 00 lgt after 1500 miles it started to act funny. It only happens after the car has been drove 10 or more miles. When i go to take off from a stop it will hold first gear and not want to shift, if i put it in second it will take a second to shift then its really violent. Then it goes back to acting normal or will be a PITA. I replaced my tranny thinking it was bad. Within 10miles it pulled the above stuff. You guys have any idea? Tcu? Or anything else i should have the dealer look at?

Not saying it's the exact same thing, but I had a problem with hesitation then surging. Ran super rich and made the car basically undrivable. And like yours, it wouldn't happen till the car had been driven for a couple of minutes.

I took off my trans mount and if you look at the longest bolt, it is supposed to have a bushing in there. Without that bushing, the mount just twisted and turned, offering no support to the tranny. Well that made a knocking noise that the knock sensor took to mean the engine was knocking, and put the car into limp mode to protect itself. Long story short, I just replaced the whole thing, and haven't had an issue in the 50ish miles I drove since.

This only happens on drives to my parents house. If i go to the store, short distance I will not have a problem. It only acts funny when it wants on drives over 15min.

And you have no check engine light? Was the TCU checked for codes at the dealership?

Is it throwing a code? My sisters 2000 L did this, after a while it became more consistant. It shifts but very violently. Threw a code, i think it was something with the airflow or something, cant really remember now. Before I could look at it she had it at the mechanics and they charged her somewhere around $300 to replace what the code was saying it was. Still didnt fix anything. The subaru shop couldnt figure it out.

Anyways, one day I checked the trans fluid and while doing so i noticed some small vaccuum hoses were disconnected. They had become hard and would slide right off the fittings if barely bumped. Zip tied those back on for the time being till i can get some new hoses and it hasnt happened again since.

Also you can check your trans codes yourself.
