Help with next vehicle choice

I'm already putting some thought into what my next choice of Subaru will be. I originally wanted a wrx but since so many people have one I'm starting to stray away. I'm really leaning towards a forester xt so it still has a turbo but not everyone has one. Are there any known issues or anything I should know about them and which generation I should buy?

The fxt's are sweet. I've actually wanted one for awhile and still want to get one. My brother has an 04 fxt and loves it. The 04 fxt's can actually use the 04 sti ecu plus some of its other bolt on's and you'll have yourself a nice sti-xt...lol

With any Subaru turbo, inspect the banjo filter and make sure it's not clogged. An oil starved turbo is a near dead one.

Happy hunting otherwise, although I'd got LGT wagon or Outback XT over a FXT, personally.

I watched some modding show on youtube and they added a full exhaust and kept the same hp until they flashed the ecu, then they got some power increase on their fxt. I've actually seen a forester sti at a local dealer. The said it was legit forester sti and there was very very few in the US. Those are sexy as hell but they weren't selling theirs

I definitely have a soft spot for foresters so that'll most likely be my next vehicle. I might have to take a trip out to japan so I could buy a jdm one, ship it to the states, buy a usdm forester, then put as many of the vin plates onto the jdm one as I can find. Probably not legal but hell nobody will look that hard.

I have driven an XT Outback, built 02 WRX, and a 05 GT turbo. The most enjoyable was the XT Outback. The GT was ok, but an auto and felt slow. The WRX is played out, at least over here. I have a customer with an XT Outback and no joke that car is fast! 5 speed with a short shifter, its a fun car to drive even though it's high off the ground.

I would say go drive them and see what you like. I tried to get my dad to get a new Legacy and he is thinking of a Forester instead.

Big thing to watch out for is the turbo. My customer with the XT is anal about having me maintain it. He's got probably 140-150K by now how much he drives and we did a clutch at 120K and the turbo shows no shaft play but this is because he's a conservative driver also.

Another thing is the clutch. They had a retarded clutch setup in 05-06. They had floating flywheels and are a B***H to drive with! We upgraded his to a 07 setup and it's much easier to drive and hooks up faster like a normal car.

It was definitely a real forester Sti. I asked the salesman about it and the dealership doesn't do custom work. Plus them saying that they're not selling it because there's so few of them in the states adds on to it being legit.

I'm not getting anything now, maybe in 2-3 years but its better to get all the info I can now than when I'm actually looking.

Yeah, it was under the forester "sport" name.. came with sti lip, forster sti wing,and sti wheels... they were pretty sweet looking. they also a forester sti concept subaru did that was really kick ass.

subaru forester 2006-2007 are legal to import through a registered importer. i believe that there was a 2006 Forester STI. you could go that route.

There aren't any Subarus on the approved for importation list..... Where did you get that info that it was? The DOT site you linked doesn't allow an importation....

He's right, it's on that list... I have a feeling it's most likely limited to specific models though. It's kinda funny, thats the only Subaru on the list at all...

The cars on that list are kinda funny... Like a 1988 240sx (witch dose not exist in the USA, we got them in 89), and an R-33 Skyline... They even have RHD Accords listed... LOL...

There is a massive list for Mercedes though! I wonder why...
