Just got offered a trade... thinking about taking it!

Ok, so most of you know I have been having a hard time selling my BH wagon... Someone just asked if I would take a trade for a 2001 Impreza RS 4 door.... I'm REALLY thinking about it since I did always want one, I just kinda need the money more...

This is a pic I got emailed of it this morning... I think I'll at least check it out. I figure the RS might be easier to sell for what I want out of my wagon anyway...

What do you guys think?

I say do it. The RS would probably be easier to sell like you said. In the C/L ad it definitely has a spoiler from a coupe.

Phase II motor. And it is an auto. Why would someone buy it like that new, lol. I don't know. I always plan to swap auto to manuals, but it never ends up happening.

Hmm... really looks auto to me. Maybe he's thinking 4eat+overdrive = "5 speed transmission" lol.

As far as short shifters go I'm loving my B&M (or knockoff, cant tell). It's not a huge difference from stock but that and the hardened shifter bushings make the it a lot less truck like, err subie like (I have a GD WRX shift linkage also which supposedly improves the feel).

seriously, I was looking for a 2000-2001 4-door Subaru RS 5 speed and I wanted the blue color. lol At least around here every time any pre 2003 RS went up for sale it was gone within a week regardless of the price. Especially the 4 doors and 5-speeds.

The resale on imprezas is really kind of ridiculous, I too say go for it. Worst case scenario, you get to drive the car you actually wanted. And no head gasket issues to consider either. I didn't take a look at the ad, but scour the rear quarter panels for any signs of rust- the bane of that MY impreza.

Those SOHC EJ25s still have HG issues, they just leak externally. Buddy of mine has two of them. Both of them leak, he re-did one of them, then it had bearing failure. Again, common.

Also prone for rear wheel bearing failure, and typical Subaru rust on the quarters. Not to mention the higher mileage 5-speed woes with shaft bearings.

They do tend to hold ridiculous resale values, especially manual equipped coupes.

HAHAHA!!! You guys crack me up! Looking for rust?! You guys do know that it takes 20-25 years for our cars to rust out over here right? If I see a spec, I'm not touching it. My 1980 Datsun truck has a cancer hole about half the size of a credit card if that says anything...

I havent heard back yet, but if the car checks out, I think I'm gonna go for it. We will see what happens. If not, no big deal.

Its an automatic, what's the point? Pass... unless you know you could sell it faster and make the same amount of money or more.
