I was on my way home this evening, getting to a stoplight with another person in front of me, and I see a set of lights rapidly approaching from the rear. I don't think anything of it because the vehicle in front of me starts moving so I start moving myself. Suddenly my car jolts forward, and the vehicle from the rear, a Dodge Ram 1500, attempts to go between my car and the parked jeep to my right! The driver of the Dodge was so drunk that when he came to a stop he kept trying to open his driver door which was pinned against my car.
I'll post pics tomorrow. My car wasn't too bad off but the Dodge hit the jeep so hard that it was moved 20 feet forwards.

WTF! Sorry man, getting hit is always frustrating. When you get hit by a drunk driver tho, it makes me PISSED! At least he did not, or could not, run from the scene. It's even worse when that happens.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully everything goes smoothly and your car is good as new soon. **** drunk drivers. I don't understand what makes people think that's a good idea.

I agree. I'd be ok with jailtime for a first offense when it comes to drunk driving.

Glad you are ok.
I have had a few friends nearly die from drunk drivers. One has thankfully had a near perfect recovery - can do most things except water ski and snowboard - and the other has permanent equilibrium damage. She can't walk straight anymore. Drunk drivers anger me more than I can put into words.

I lost a friend in high school to a drunk driver.
And I've been hit (when I was stopped at a light and he was going ~50mph) by one as well.
That's one thing I don't think I'll ever understand. If you know you've been drinking (more than 1 or 2 drinks), why are you behind the wheel?

Unfortunately the drunk had no insurance, and I only have liability so I'll buff her out as best I can but that's about it.
The local police handed him over to the state patrol, so he spent at least one night in jail.
The jeep was way worse off. It was an early 80s wrangler (CJ?) that just had completed a frame up restoration, and WAS immaculate.

That's a bummer that he had no insurance.

for being hiting for a big truck its not so bad i think.... here in chile if you get crush by a drunk the company insurance don´t pay nothing because there is no insurance for car accident if the driver was drunk.. but now with the new law there is 0 tolerance with drunk drivers..
hope ram´s driver pays everything, good luck mate

Sorry to hear about your accident. At least a car is repairable. This weekend marks the 3 year anniversary of a good friend of mine passing away thanks to a drunk driver.

i believe washington requires uninsured motorist coverage that you even have with liability. it is a generally a $200 or $300 deductable.

I dont think so... I can make sure tomorrow, but thats something I'm pretty sure thats optional. WA makes you have everything to cover the 'other' person. Covering yourself is an option.
Easy for me to find out thought, my mom is an insurance agent... :smt023
The damage is not really that bad though... A little mud work and paint the qt and the door and good as new!
