"CAR magazine is reporting that the wild VW GX3 concept is making it's way to production. Born from VW's "Moonraker" project, here are the highlights:
- Is destined for U.S. sale (maybe California only)
- Lotus is doing R&D and will supply the front suspension/steering (Elise-based)
- Mechanical components would be shipped to the U.S. to be assembled here by a third party using a locally sourced tub.
- Target weight: 1257 lbs.
- Target power: 125HP from a 1.6L four
- 0-60: 5.7 secs. Top Speed: 125mph
- Avg. fuel consumption: 46mpg
- Sales goal: 10,000/yr.
- Price: $17,000
- On sale: before 2009"
