I picked up an oem '02 wrx momo wheel to put on my '97 Legacy Outback and of course ran into the plug difference issue. I was able to switch the plug over, but still got an "airbag" light. When all was said and done. Is this because the charges were a different size for the '95-'97 years compared to the '98+ and the system can tell something is amiss? I have read everything I can find on this and other forums, lots of good info about DIY installs on newer models, but it seems the prospects are pretty bleak for getting it to work on MY97.
Has anyone successfully swapped the momo wheel onto a '97 w/o getting an "airbag" light? Help! :smt017

No one I know of has gotten it to work. I sold mine just the other day. There is probably a way to do it just many won't touch SRS wiring

Finally got this figured out.
As I mentioned I cut both plugs and swapped them over, but was still getting the "airbag" light. When I went back in to troubleshoot it I has forgotten to click back into place the little green safety clip that is part of the plug.
Dumb move, I had read online about people forgetting to re-clip that safety clip on the plug and could have sworn I had double checked everything, but turns out not. As soon as I clicked it back into place the airbag light went off, didn't even have to reset it.
