Hi everybody, i just found this site and i love it! I currently have a legacy gt 2003 black full equip swapped wrx 2004. I changed the hood( It's white but the car is going to the paint shop this summer  ), i installed H&R spring, got Volk wheels, clear the headlight and that's about it! I'm from Quebec in Canada. I'm currently looking to ugrape for a sti ver7 next summer  I'm going to receive my new stance coilover tomorrow. I'm currently looking for a rear bumper with place for the exshaut like the RSK and i am looking for a front lip.

The white hood looks legit. Reminds me of an old school cop car.

You have the same swap I want to do! How bad was it?

You don't even know how bad it was! I don't even wanna think about how much it cost me ... :smt022 If you wanna do the swap, I can give you some advice : #1 : If you think it will take 2 weeks do it, it will take 4! #2 : If you think it will cost you ???? $$, it will cost double of that and #3 : Ask yourself if you really wanna do it! But seriously, you really really have to get all the info before you start to remove anything, double check every parts and every wiring! If you want someone else to do it, make sure he has already done the swap of a legacy cause it's really REALLY not the same thing has a GC or CD swap. I learned it the hard way. If i could do it again, I would but I would change a couple of things

Btw, the picture is with the H&R coil and the Volk are 17x7 +25 if i remeber well.

thanks for the suspn/rim info. How drastic is the dif from a gc/gd when doing the swap?
I would think mechanically all will bolt up. (baja crossmember instead of gc/gd crossmember) Rear suspension is def different i know. And you can always pay iwire or ECS to merge your harness. I really want to swap in the future but your post just struck some concern.

Yeah I was under the impression that I could just drop the new motor in, swap out ECUs, merge harnesses, and be good to go. Is that not the case? I mean, I'm looking at buying all that stuff as a package, so theoretically I won't need to go out and buy small things that add up.

First of all, I didn't buy a package so there was always something missing, for the wiring, there is about 40 hours work. I have a wrx crossmember and the legacy "direction system" (Can't find the word for that in english :smt005 ) don't fit together. The legacy has 1 square and 1 round bushing and the has 2 round bushing, but i guess that if you take a crossmenber from a baja turbo it should work. After that, you will need a short ram or a cold air intake because the stock wrx intake won't fit. I had to take the legacy drivashaft and axles. In Canada, there is no baja turbo, it was a pain to get a hood, bough it from ebay straigh from japan. On top of that, when we install the motor, we found out that the block was an old jdm block(the ones with only 4 bolt to fix the transmission and no hole to fix the starter because its suppose to be fix on the transmission on jdm model) with wrx 2004 head... :smt022 That's why it was a nightmare for me. I learned a lot from that. I'm planning to swap the motor again for a STI Ver7  next winter.

yea i been through the wiring bs with my old car and I KNOW that the $750 people charge is worth it. So your motor is a frankenstein setup? 2004 wrx heads on an ej20g block. Yea i would just buy a full clip to eliminate a lot of the mismatched parts and retain the oem reliability. Definitely the v7 sti will be sick next year. I hope to be joining you with that venture.

And don't forget to take pictures before you remove everything, it really help when you want to put everythign together at the end :smt023

Is that ej207? I've been kicking the idea around for a little now.

ej207 is from a v5/6/7 sti motor. i dont know if v8/9 stayed 207 or went 257
ej205 is usdm wrx 2.0
ej20k is from a v3/4
ej20g is form a v1/2

he has ej205 heads mounted to some block haha. Not sure which one has the alternator bolt missing as he stated. Well important thing is he got it running. I think ideally the ej257 usdm sti would be better than the jdm ej207 because of the extra torque and ability to run US gas. Will probably end up being cheaper to source and get parts for. The v7 ej207 will have a better power band and rev higher but will cost more haha. Decisions decisions. I wonder what the weight difference is between a BE and a GDB Sti.
