So as some of you know im in the mist of a 5 speed swap from my 4eat.

Using a ksb04 clutch for the 2.5 on my 2.2. I have read about flywheels with steps in them. What is the point of this?

Also going to use a 2.2 flywheel i believe. Which ive read will work on a 2.5 clutch. Confirm? Deny?

will work just fine, just be sure to resurface the 2.2 flywheel. The friction circle of the 2.5 clutch is larger than that of a 2.2 clutch, so not resurfacing would likely have adverse effects on the life of the new 2.5 clutch Well that, and the fact that you should always resurface your flywheel when you replace the clutch.

Glad to hear. But a 2.5 flywheel would also work on a 2.2 5mt?

And anything on the flywheel stepping?

an NA 2.5 clutch and/or flywheel, yes. talking about oem flywheels, i believe the 2.2 is preferred as it is a little lighter than the stock 2.5 flywheel.

I would have to check OEM but with after markets flywheels the 22 and 25 use the same flywheel in the 2nd Gen legacy

Yes, even the 1.8 motors would use that flywheel. The 2.0 and new like around 04 2.5L uses a different flywheel.

So yes that will work for you.

+1 I noticed no difference between the clutch im running (ordered for a 2.5L... on a 2.2L flywheel) and the old 2.2L clutch...

Just to touch base on this again. Theres physically no difference with the 2.2 and 2.5 flywheels for the models discussed. I had both side by side (should have taken a pic) and went with the 2.2 since it was in better condition.

Now as you get into the newer models there will need to be more research on these.
