BD Legacy GT springs an upgrade to stock L's?

Unfortunately "legacy gt springs" are too common words for the [advanced search]

On my 96 Legacy L, I currently have full 02 wrx suspension. The rears are blown so I picked up 04 wrx wagon struts with about 40k on em for $50. I'm tired of the raised front and lowered rear, with the current setup.

So the 02 springs I have aren't tapered in the rears like 04-07 WRX, and that means 2nd gen legacy springs are a direct replacement without changing tophats, etc.

I can get "L" springs all day in the junkyard, but every once in a while a GT sedan or wagon finds it's way in. Is it worth my time holding off for the GT springs? I'd kind of like wagon springs for the stiffer rear end (I carry trannies and engine parts regularly in the trunk).

GT springs are a 15% stiffer rate than the L's. This is based on Subaru America literature.

I was going to say something about spacers would make my car look like it's lifted all around, but then I found this old pic of it when the rears were in good shape.

Not on that car broski. That's what the SS is for - it's so low on the RS-B suspension it looks tucked, lol.

Yeah brodawg, it's my 2nd subaru. My SS is like my 7th. I'm going to swap it to manual soon, and a buddy is going to swap its crappy outback 5th gear for one with a better highway cruising ratio beforehand.

I have stock LS 95 struts should I get lowering springs, or just wait and save up for Teins?

How many miles? If you do lowering springs, you'll probably shorten the life of the struts dramatically.

Then again, if you do coilovers, you may hate the stiff ride.

Haha I think it's been on since it was born! I'll adapt to the stiff ride.. Lately my car has been more stiffened up than usual.. Probably something my uncle did in his garage..
