hey guys, i finally got to installing an MBC on my car in an attempt to get the attention of my vf22 abit earlier in the rev range, which has worked perfectly for most of the part, but sometimes i am getting a CEL that goes away when the revs go down below 1000rpm.
sometimes i dont realy need to get into boost for it to appear for a few seconds then disappear...especially on highway cruising. i get the occasional pops and burble...but the car pulls harder and harder on boost 1.1bar.
mods are
05 STI coil on plug conversion
440cc yellows with Z4 ecu(non chipped)
vf22 turbo
sard FPR set at 32 psi
walbro Gss342 255lph
2.5in exhaust
pod filter
and turbosmart MBC
initially, for about a year with the stock boost control solenoid i used to run without any vacuum input to the map sensor from the Manifold, but the 12v power was always connected. this was because i would get boost cut at even at 10psi if I DID connect the vacuum line from manifold due to maybe a shagged solenoid or MAp sensor.
NOTE that in this form, i did not get any check engine light.. but now that i have by-passed the boost solenoid, i have the intermittent CEL.
should i block the solenoid.. on all ports??
annoyingly...i cannot check for any codes since my harness under the dash is all jumbled up and spliced...both manually and with a scan tool. so if anybody who has an idea or experienced this sort of thing could help, I will truly appreciate.
