First off I have a 1994 Subaru Legacy LS N/A with FWD/AWD. I was driving to school today and my car felt funny while I was driving and it shut off. It was idling awkwardly too. I coasted to the side of the road and popped it into neutral and started it up and then it felt fine. The radio cut off and all the dash lights went on. This is not the first time it has done it either. It shut off for the first time about 2 months ago, initially I thought it was a fuel injector which I have sinced changed out. The second time it shut off was about a week or so ago. I have a CEL for a knock sensor, but have had that for more than a year and a half. i have been lazy with changing it. Does anyone have any idea why my car would shut off randomly. I think it is an electrical problem possibly the coil pack, but I'm a car noob right now, since I've only been driving for about 2 years.
Backround info:
I have had the car for a little more than a year and half. I have changed one fuel injector in #1, the fuel filter, spark plugwires to Bosch Platinum Wires, spark plugs to NGK Iridiums, pcv valve, air filter to a K&N air filter, the water pump and timing belt, the battery to an Autocraft gold battey and a few other things.
Any help is appreciated, also I'm at school right now so if I don't respond for awhile that's why.

Fuel pump would be my first thought, but there isn't a whole lot to go on.
Do you get an CELs other than the knock sensor? Have you had codes pulled recently?
BTW- hello neighbor!

Last time I had it ran I got the code for the Knock Sensor and a code for the Fuel Injector in the #1 spot. That was in March, and I don't have a scanner for my car either. The fuel injector has been changed too. Since posting I went on another Legacy fourm and looked up stalling issues and found that it actually may be my MAF Sensor. People on the fourm were having similar issues to the ones I'm having and they changed it. Then the problem went away. I'm still not 100% sure though. Also if it was the fuel pump wouldn't my problem be a somewhat constant one? My problem seems to come and go, mainly when my car sits a few days. Like with today, I hadn't driven my car in 4 days and the last time before that when it stalled was 3ish days.
Thanks for responding neighbor to the North

You can get codes pulled at any Autozone/Advance Auto/etc type store for free. I'd try there next. Have you changed the MAF? I would think if it were a MAF issue you'd have a code of some sort though.

I will go and see what pops up there, but I gotta wait. I have no time right now because I'm busy with finals. Will they check the codes for the old style ODB-1 codes? I haven't changed it yet, but I have a feeling I need to because my CEL has been popping up quite frequently in the last 2 weeks. I used to get a CEL flash once in awhile from the knock sensor, but now it's to the point that the CEL pops up more frequently.

I had a similar problem and I replaced the fuel pump.... Didn't help, Damn. My friend called his mechanic buddy and before he finished describing the problem he blurted out "Crankshaft Position Sensor". I replaced it and have been fine since.

I keep forgetting to post as I have been busy with my finals, I changed my MAF and my car has been fine since I did. It feels like it runs a lot better and I haven't experienced any issues with it yet.

My car died again last night, this time I had it running for 2-3 minutes drove half way up the street and it died. Only the engine shut off, it was night time and I had my lights on and my radio , they remained on. The CEL, Battery Light and Oil Light came on like it was in the mode before starting up. I popped it into neutral and it started right up. It didn't feel funny before it died either. I have no CEL's for anything. This car is starting to drive me crazy. Anyone got any other ideas? It seems like it dies every three-ish weeks. I can't figure it out. My gas mpg is decent to, so I'm not sure what the issue is related to. Once again any help is much appreciated.
