5 speed swap and nys inspection question

Hey guys, i have a 97 legacy lsi wagon and im been reading alot about swiching from the 4eat to 5 speed swap but i cant find anything that if causes check engine light. Does the swap causes check engine light problem because isyou looking fieto tge aitp trans or not? Im thinking about doing it in the future but if is going to cause a problem i just leave it alone because i dont want to jave problem passing inspection. Thanks

If you don't swap ECUs my guess is that you will have a check engine light on. I've seen that happen in other cars so my guess is that if you don't swap ECUs the stock ECU you have is going to be wicked confused. You swap those and you should be fine, easy fix. The transmission swap is the hard part. I'm guessing most people will just tell you to buy a manual transmission wagon. I won't.....I'm planning on doing the same thing. Good luck!
