Well i just though since no one really posts in here, id just trow something in :-D
Ok, here we go
1.)remove subaru badge from grill
2.)remove all the factory adhesive from back of badge using a razor blade
3.)get some 100 grit sand paper and start sanding, make sure to get all paint off.
*(make sure not to accidently nick the stars or trim around the outside of the badge.
4.)once you finish sanding all the black/blue paint off, you can paint it what ever color you want. your stars will still show, and it looks alot better than stock.
5.) use some sort of water proof adhesive to hold the badge back in place.
This whole process takes about 20 minutes, but its worth it.
im sure most people already know how to do this, but id just though id share the knowledge :!:

I have a dark blue bodied car with gray bumpers/sideskirts...what color do you think will look good on the grille?
Here's a pic:

Match it with the paint of your car. Hit up Subaru for the touch up paint. It won't stand out, but it would look clean.

You mean something like this...

I soaked the badge in Castrol -super clean degreaser to make the addhesive and paint come off easy then I used an SOS brillo pad and some hot water to get it all off. Took all of 10 minutes.
The badge is 15 years old so it is not in the best of shape but I put the effort in and now it matches my engine bay. I will be sticking it back to the grill with some industrial 3M spray adhesive.
Look for more pics with my new (non-yellow) headlights and the custom badge soon.

I did mine with touchup paint and then drilled out the back on the grille and made a lighting chamber...looks pretty cool.

that does look clean, but the stars should contrast it more...they're both silver. How about black stars? or maybe backlit stars? I can help you out if you want.

ive been considering black stars, but the badge looks good now if you look at it up close, thats not a very good picture of it. i'll try black stars and tell you all how it comes out

Cool thing, that badge... Anyone considered cutting it out of plexyglass and lite it? Shops that make stamps (I dont know about US, but they are pretty common here) have laser cutters which can cut out perfectly any shape. I know, I worked in one for year or so... I just might do sthg like that

As mentioned in my thread about it, I need to redo mine, I rushed it and it doesn't look good enough. Instead of sanding, I used fingernail polish remover (I'm married, got it from the wife) to remove the old paint and stars. Then, gold paint in the stars/outer ring with a brush and then spraypaint the entire thing dark blue.

i used 400 grit sandpaper on the back, it took a little longer, but came out great. I mixed testor's red acrylic and black acrylic plastic model paint to make maroon. It matched my car better than i could have imagined.
I did the same thing as woofy with my grill, but used aluminum gutter mesh behind it. Woofy's paint looks way better than mine.
