Picked these up from a jdm import yard about 3 weeks back and restored them with a friend of mine who restores headlights professionally on the side. When I got them they werent too bad, but they did have some use and yellow markings which were pretty hard to just scrape off. During the restoration we wet sanded 3 times, I dont remember what grit's he used but 3 did different stages. After the sanding, a polish using a drill and a soft buffing pad with a headlight polish got them clear. the final step was a clearcoat on top. This seals in all of the work and makes them look brand new.

The pictures show the work done and how much gunk came off of the lights. all scratches and 99% of the imperfections went away!

Other fun facts on my install; there are 35w 6k HIDs for the projectors, double height 194 led's, and 100w yellow coated h3's which im using for my high beams/jdm driving lights which are on a separate switch because subaru high beams cut off the lows, which i didnt want. the turn signal sockets are from my usdm lights, i modified the jdm housing very slightly because they are dual filament, the jdm sockets are only single. I needed dual because of my side markers and my leds needing that constant power. The leds are tied in with my turn signals constant power wire so they are on when parking lights are on. And with my alarm, they flash with the turn signals as well. And let me tell you, they are bright!

Feel free to ask any questions about the install.

Headlights look good, man! I tried to polish up my old Pontiac's headlights and I think I ended up doing more damage than good. Are you planning on swapping the high beam for LEDs, too?

I would like to swap them for led h3's. the 100w bulbs, i dont love them and i am worried about melting/heating up the housings too much.

I don't know if it is true with your HIDs, but the JDM Halogen projectors bulbs can be grounded such that they will stay on when the high-beams are activated. Very very easy, and no separate switch required. :)

My HID's stay on, I assume just by grounding.
