I just got a free 1995 Subaru Legacy L wagon with AWD and manual trans(216.000k) It has been in my family since new and now i have it,it has the stock 14" wheels and wheel covers and a extra set of steel wheels with Blizzacks for the winter,my question is Craigs list has so many Suby deals on wheels that are o.e.m and i like the GT snowflakes and STI/WRX wheels but not sure what ones will fit,im reading that 2004 and under seem to be not a problem. Looks like 16" and 17" suby wheels will fit that 5x100 pattern? so roughly im looking for some expierienced suby owners here for some guidance, thank you all in advance....

GT snowflakes will fit, WRX wheels will fit, Impreza 2.5RS wheels will fit, but STi wheels are limited to the '04 model...after 2004 the STi went to 5x114.3 bolt pattern.

Thankyou for your help,it is nice to know that there are alot of options in o.e.m. wheels but what about 17" in those models if i come across them, will they fit without any modifications to the wheels well(rolled fenders)?

Pretty much all EJ series Subarus (Legacy, Impreza, Forester, Baja) will have 5x100 wheels that will work on your 95. The 05+ STi, SVX, & Tribeca use the 5x114 pattern that will not work.
17" wheels are found on the 06+ WRX, 04 STi, 05+ Legacy GT and some others - I'm less familiar with the new models, but most models before 04 where 16" wheels on the premium models.
As far as fitment goes, you don't want to go real big with a 17" tire, but 17s will work, I've even seen 18s & 19s work with rubber bands for tires on the rims.

Thanks for your help,im now going on craigs list not wondering if certain sizes are going to fit or not,im looking at the Snowflakes now from a 2000 model Legacy GT for a couple hundred with tires.

The snowflake wheels are a nice choice for a good stock look and they're 16s, so tires are going to be considerably less expensive.

Your right, that is the look im after,i also found a Legacy GT hood for $70 but it is like 2hrs away though. There are so many listings for these cars and parts on Craigs List that it was a no brainer to except this car from my family. This site is awesome and the photo's of upgrades are even better.

04 Impreza or WRX (unsure if there is a difference)?
04 WRX wheels only weigh in at 16.5 lbs.
I do not know steelies weight but they have to be heavy.

Once i get my Snowflakes or whatever else from Craigs List i can find im puttting the steelies out on trash day, plus i already have a set with Blizzaks that have like 5k on them, they are like brand new.

Please don't throw away steel or any kind of metal. Not only is metal recyclable, you can get money for it! Steel & Aluminum are becoming more and more scarce, and it'd be a shame to see people putting more of it in landfills.
Pretty soon landfill diving for precious metals will be a "dirty job" on Mike Rowe's show...

Ditto
And snowflake wheels weigh in at 18.5 lbs.
I have a mini database on Subaru OEM wheels.

I cant tell you how many people asked if I had extra wheels for snow tires this last winter... They are worth something. The only Subaru wheels I have tossed are ones that are broken...
Did you get new wheels yet?

No,i found these about a week ago and e-mailed the dude and called him twice and he says he still has them but won't return a call to set something up,he is over an hour away,i just don't understand why he would post this on C.L. and not return calls to try to sell them,i guess it's the South Jersey thing..

No, it's a craigslist thing. I found a guy selling his 98 RS rims (gold!) 30 miles from me and he was only asking 200 bucks! Seemed like a great deal, but he wouldn't return my emails or anything.

I hate that... Sometimes I'm slow at getting back to people, but only on the small things.

The first gen WRX wheels (w/factory tire size) will rub your struts in the rear, I just used a spacer. In the front it is extremely close, but will not rub even under full load and turn.

That happened to me with worn out suspension. It didn't with the <40k mile replacements though.
