What do you guys think about using 2010 impreza wrx front and rear sway bars on a BE?? I know someone that is selling them cheap and I wanted to get some suggestions and opinions of what you guys think!! Would it be better to get these or save up for whitelines??

Thanks,
Nic

Well, will it even fit? Are they thicker than what you have? Do they have provisions for, or would you need to hammer your wheel well?

Personally I'd just save up for the whitelines - they offer direct fitting products for your car that are a clear improvement. But if the newer impreza stuff actually fits and is bigger, then they could be an upgrade till you can afford whitelines.

The fronts will fit since its the same front suspension set up. The backs should fit cause the 2010-2012 wrx's switched to a multilink suspension. So basically it has the same suspension as mine. The sways are a lot bigger than what I have. I think I have 15mm in the front and 12mm in the back.

I thought that how the end links hooked up was different on all turbo models vs N/A? something about over or under... let me see if I can find what I was reading.

The 3rd gen impreza n/a's had multilink in the rear also, so that's not the issue. I'm just curious if the stuff is interchageable or not. Just because they're multilink doesn't mean they mount the same. Or that the car's have the same track width, etc. So find out and tell us. :)

Well the sways are coming from an 2010 wrx (non widebody), and i also read somewhere that the older turbo/na imperza front and rear sways fit the BE too. Correct me if i am wrong! Also, its like using a BP/BL rear strut bar on the BH/BE. I'll prolly be getting the sways with in the next month once the guy brings them up from Virgina. If they fit, it'll be a nice suspension upgrade.

I've always been told that front swaybars for turbo models are not a fit without modification because of the difference in crossmembers between turbo and N/A models.

I guess all I can do is try and see if they fit, if not o well if they do then its a +

If you have someone who is willing to let you try theirs out, definitely give it a try. More info is always good, especially on the new models of which we are (generally) more ignorant of.

Could be a stupid question but gotta know before I drop the dough (hey, that rhymes! :glasses7: ) but will a 2005 Legacy GT rear sway bar fit on a 2005 Legacy 2.5i Limited? I know there's some question about the front one not fitting but what about the rear?

http://www.jscspeed.com/catalog/Subaru/ ... cy_GT.html (http://www.jscspeed.com/catalog/Subaru/05_09_Legacy_GT/Suspension/Sway_Bars_End_Links_for_05_09_Subaru_Legacy_GT/Whiteline_Front_and_Rear_Sway_Bar_Kits_for_05_09_Subaru_Legacy_GT.html)

And could someone explain the difference between fixed and adjustable (aside from the obvious that one can be adjusted)? Such as how you adjust it and what it specifically does? My legacy is a daily driver (miiiiight start autoX if I have time and funds) so I don't need something built specifically for racing, just better handling on these SW Virginia back roads.

It should fit no problem. On the front, the turbo crossmember is different than the non-turbo crossmembers because of the routing of the extra exhaust piping for the turbo. The rear is no different in any of the models of the same chassis code with Subarus.

A fixed swaybar is exactly like stock: there is only one place for the swaybar to connect to the endlinks.

An adjustable swaybar has several different holes to connect to the endlinks, shortening or lengthening the effective length of the bar. The shorter it is, the stiffer it will be giving you less give in the side-to-side sway of the rear suspension. The less give you have, the quicker the tires will break loose (oversteer) in the rear.

Adjustables are nice if you have summer performance tires (with lots of grip) but have to drive on different tires in the winter months because of snow. The grippy summers work well with a stiff bar, but you don't want tons of oversteer when its slippery out in the winter, so you'd want to set the setting back to the "loosest" setting on the bar. You also have the option of swapping out bars every fall and spring if winter weather is severe enough to warrant worrying about oversteer.
