im pretty sure that all subaru booster and mastercylinders are compatable with the exception of ABS to non-ABS.
im hoping someone can confirm or deny. i have a WRX brake upgrade (compliments of miketracy, thanks mike :D)
and i like the overall stopping power for now, (may upgrade to 06 LGT brakes at some point) but i would like to
improve initial bite, and pedal feel. its not bad, by anymeans, but it seams like when i drive my friends WRX the
initial bite is sharper and more crisp. so i want to do an upgrade on the master cylinder and SS brake lines. just need to
know which ones are compatable.

Lol thanks, lord flash. YOu're right, they all bolt up, but some are better than others, and the ports don't necessarily line up with your hardlines, even if going abs to abs or non to non. Having said that, the one people speak of in reverential whispers is the unicorn, the non-abs SVX one - with a 1 1/16" (17/16" from here on out) bore.

Honestly if you want to radically change the feel of your brakes, getting swap in the booster of a non-abs ej18 Impreza from 93-94 (maybe 95 as well). It's a single diaphragm booster, so your pedal feels direct and powerful. Haven't done this to my own car but I've driven ones that had it swapped. Pretty cool.

Not sure you'd want to put a bigger MC on your car...Might defeat some of the benefit of the Single Diaphram Booster. Wrx's came with 17/16" through 05 and went to 1" for some reason with the 4/2 pots. Your car should have a 1" if it's abs and 7/8" (15/16"?) if it's not IIRC.

Another thing I semi looked into when I had my impreza, is swapping the guts from a 17/16" MC into mine - to keep all my brake lines stock. I read that the bores were the same size internally, the difference being how much fluid is displaced during each stroke. Don't quote me on this, lol.

All 1st gen legacys with abs have 17/16" MC's. Just like STI's and most wrx's.
