Was really getting sick of the nasty brown/faded tan on the door panels and had some extra sub box carpeting laying around so I decided to make a little project. I dynamatted a little as well, to help cover areas in which vibration is prone.
Took off the door panel, Cleaned the plastic lining inside and out, looks much better now. the carpeting panel is held in by 7 or 8 small screws, unscrew them all and the whole thing comes out. The carpet's glue is as old as the car so it came off pretty
easy. I then outlined the old carpet on the new black carpet, allowing some edges to fold over. I used permatex spray adhesive, I didn't feel like spend $20/bottle for the 3M super 77/94. The permatex was only $7/bottle.
The spray stuff takes a few seconds for it to actually get sticky which is actually really nice because it doesnt bond instantly giving you a few seconds to set it down and peel it back if needed before it sets. I folded over the edges and set it back in place in the door panel and screwed it all back down. Very simple task actually, took about 25min start to finish, each door. Better than what it was before at least.
