2000 Legacy Rear Endlinks

I have a friend who is having some problems with the rear endlinks on her 2000 Legacy L wagon. The bar is "clunking" around corners and the suspension feel is very loose.

I inspected the bar and it looks like it has popped out of the ball joints on the top of each endlink (the bottom of the link is still attached fine). Does this mean the endlinks are shot? Or can I press them back in? I don't get many opportunities to work on this car, so I want to get it right the first time.

She doesn't have really any money to spend, so I'm not looking to upgrade (unless its dirt cheap) so much as to replace stock for stock and keep it running right.

If the ball in the endlink popped out of the socket then no you can not fix it, they need to be replaced. It is weird that both side would be shot though. Usually one side goes then there is no more load on the other side so that one will not break. You may have bigger problems than just the endlinks.

Everything else seemed OK back there, but I didn't get it lifted up to really get a good look. When I do the car's brakes, I'll take another look.

How are those endlinks for being reused? Is it a one and done type thing?

edit: Just looked on Napa's website. Might as well buy new, they're only 18 bucks a piece for the rears.
